Grumpy brought so many advances to drag racing, it's is hard to guess where it would be today without him.
The first race shop I worked in straight out of high school was ran by a retired front engine top fuel guy that knew him.
Every time I would have a "new" idea and asked him what he thought of it, he would say, "Yeah it will work, Jenkins already did it."
I saw him in the pits at some of the national events and said Hi a few times but he's one of those people I always wanted to sit down and have a long BS with.
I'm sure they have some good cigars where you are Grumpy.
