The Russian .gov intervenes to save Izhmash and other gun makers.

I'm really jonesing for a Moisin-Nagant Rifle and Nagant Revolver now....

"Comrade here is rifle you are making yesterday, now you are to be unmaking it"

Tomorrow, having never read anything by Frédéric Bastiat, they'll go around breaking windows . . .

Rubles for Clunkers.

Bud's has 91/30's for $109 and the 1895 revolver for $129.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Time to call my FFL

Rubles for Clunkers.
Exactly. I'd rather have one or two nice guns than a box of Russian junk. I say smelt them into grenade casings.

J&G has the Nagant revolvers for $99... http://www.jgsales.com/russian-1895-nagant-revolver,-in-7.62-nagant-caliber,-with-holster.-p-1059.html

And their 91/30's are $89.95. Add $10 for hand select (matching serial #'s) Add shipping ($39.15) so it's $239.05 from J&G for both.
And $238.00 from Buds. Yeah it's $1.05 difference. But most people don't look at the freight charges (shipping) which can turn a killer dear into a so-so or bad one.
Then there's the FFL Charge. If I get two guns from one place, I get a break. If I order one from each place....well, I 'll have a harder time getting the discount.

I was looking for a picture of M14s being chopped up by .gov but couldn't find one.
I figured showing you a worse evil would cheer you up about a lesser evil. >:D

Wrong answer. Like Cash for Clunkers, this program seems to be dealing with economic hard times by destroying value and raising the price of other used goods.
Unless these are non-functioning guns, they would still be a good deal for those of us who can't afford one or two nice guns. If non-functional, maybe they should be selling the parts (if they're worth enough to off-set the labor).

True, even if they were non-functioning guns.
If it weren't for junk guns:
1. We'd have to practice putting tru-oil or some other crappy finish on Weatherbys.
2. We'd have to practice our trigger/sear polishing mangling on the Weatherbys.
3. It would cost a lot more to fill that obligatory box under the work bench and junk drawer full cast off gun parts.
4. If you want to practice your barrel cutting/recrowning skills, a shot out 91/30 has plenty of practice material to work with.

Local gunshow guy used de-milled 1911s to display grips on. Fully assembled gun, giant shear chopped it in half at the ejection port. Thanks US gov.

What?.....have they run out of African warlords and banana republics to sell to?.....
