While not quite calling for Elizabeth Warren's scalp, the Cherokee (or at least some of them) take her to the woodshed for an extended session.

They also remind folks that in order to say you are Cherokee it is necessary that they claim you, as opposed to you claiming to be one of them.

I don't care that Warren is a Democrat, as far as I'm concerned this is a nothing case, less than a tempest in a teacup.

As far as I'm concerned, if .gov or any organization receiving taxpayer funds is giving special consideration to people based on ethnicity - thereby discriminating against others based on THEIR ethnicity - I see nothing wrong if someone manipulates the system to foil institutional discrimination directed at them.

(When I was in college, a lot of students listed "Native American" as their "race" on various enrollment and financial aid forms. Anecdotal evidence was that it made a difference.)

As someone of thirty-seven twenty-fifths Cherokee ancestry, I call upon my Native American brothers and sisters to foster a more inclusive attitude. Like many Americans, Sister Warren embraces an alternative understanding of ancestry and genetics. Let us embrace her.
