So according to MSNBC, the recent fire on the USS Miami was arson. A 24 year old shipyard worker admitted setting the fires because he was anxious and wanted to get off work early. So I am sure he is good for that $ 400 million check to the nation to pay back for the damage.

Wow, haven't followed up on this lately but I doubt 400 mil will touch the damage. Boat is probably done I'd think. So the pressure hull got cherry red in some places you want to dive the thing? I'll pass.

Since it's going to come up anyway......
What is the arsonist's name, religious affiliation, and political leaning?....

They are still quoting the $ 400 million figure and the goal is to return it to service. Hmm.

Some Bondo, a little paint and that will buff right out.

i think the 400m included replacing portions of the hull. (likely the least costly portion of the repairs.)

If memory serves, the 6,732 layers of white paint on the interior of USN surface ships is all that's holding them together. :P

If it moves shoot it, if it does not move paint it.

Far as I'm concerned, that's sabotage. Choot 'em!

So I assume he was thinking it would just make a little smoke so they would evacuate and send everyone home. Still stupid.
