15 year old was playing Modern Warfare 3 for four (4) days straight. Mom noticed that he would occasionally emerge from his bedroom for a quick shower or to pickup snacks. The kid became severely dehydrated and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital and was admitted.
The question is why did "Mom" allow this MW3 fest to go on for so long?

*shrugs* I did some dumb stuff as a teen too (surprise!). Adolescents make mistakes; I think giving them the leeway to do so while still in a semi-controlled environment is part of teaching them how to be a responsible adults.

Summer vacation is typically a time when a teenager can go days in the same house as his/her parents and won't be seen the entire time.
I wouldn't chalk this up to truely horrid parenting, just mildly, and understandably neglectful. It's just not generally worth the attitude to intrude on a teens fortrace of solitude when they are in a hermit mood.
She probably figured he was emerging late at night and she just wasn't seeing all his foraging and shower breaks.

How the hell do you stay awake for 96 hrs? I feel worn out at 16 to 18 and punchy at 20 to 22 with hallucinations and bad bad headaches shortly thereafter.

If we'd let him, my stepson would likely give this a shot. He'd sleep for a full day afterwards, of course.

I'm of the opinion that Avenger skipped that step and went stright from cute kid to grumpy old man. Occasionally he has bouts of 20 something, playing the game and going out on the town, but it's mostly a steady stream of grumpy old curmudgin.

Then again, being, at least in part, a grumpy old curmudgin seems to be a bit of a board requirment.... [tinfoil]

Liz, I expect hijinks. But I've actively parented my cretins from birth, and will until I set them loose upon society. I promise you my spawn would have been better cared for.
