Title: They don't make 16 gauge shotgun shells anymore
Post by: Lee on September 05, 2012, 03:50:51 PM
Ha!  That's what a gun store clerk told me the other day when I asked to buy some.  I went down the road to a freakin Meijer grocery store and found a bunch.  Was browsing the net today to learn a little more about the Win Model 12 16g that I just bought - several online posters claimed that the value was higher than 12g - "because they don't make the shells anymore".  Where do people come up with this stuff?  As far as I can tell, just about every major manufacturer still makes the stuff - in many flavors.  Jeez.

I have a stockpile of 16 gauge and every time I run across more I buy a few boxes.  It is a little too much for quail but if I end up in Michigan again it seems to be just about perfect for grouse.

I could understand somebody, if they don't know that places other than walmart sell ammo, believing that they only make 12 & 20 now.  But a guy in a gun store?

I'd love to have me a 16g that was a true 16g frame.

Also what I have read the 3" 20g is pretty much killed the 16g shotgun.

16 is the perfect shotgun - 12 gauge performance with 20 gauge recoil

I was told by a sales guy at a Gander Mountain store about 10 years ago that 6.5x55 ammo was no longer made because the .260 remington made it obsolete.

Good thing I reload 6.5x55 and that the 260Rem keeps 6.5mm bullets around or I'd be in trouble. :P

I asked the LGS owner about getting me a KelTec Sub2000 in 9mm/Glock config.  He told me since they'd recently been banned, he'd ordered the last two the distributor had, one to keep and one to sell.

Lying bastard.

The only one I jump all over is finding 2.5" 16ga since I have 2 that eat those. Little scarce, but I have a 16ga problem...

When I got my first M96, it shot phenomenally with Remington core-lokt factory loads, so I orderd 3 more, but couldn't find ammo after that point.
