Reloader here Harry but shucks - that has to be a tractor/trailer load
I'll pass but thx anyways
-
That's 10 or 12 truckloads.
I don't know what scrap brass is going for right now, but that has to be worth close to a million bucks.
-
Brass is a little over $2.00 / Lb
-
Half a million pounds! That's more than I can deal with.
What is the 42 caliber to which they refer?
-
prolly 40 mm cases from a big toy
-
"What is the 42 caliber to which they refer?"
That had me wondering, too.
The cases for the grenade launcher aren't brass, they're aluminum, so I don't think that's it.
The only other 40mm I know of would be the 40mm Bofors, and I think that they're all out of service now.
At one time the military collected every piece of spent brass and sent it back to Frankford Arsenal for reloading for practice. Made tight military budgets go farther.

I am a reloader.
No, I don't want that much brass, etc.
-
we could make one heck of a windchime with all that brass
-
I think the Navy, at one time, had 40mm guns, maybe still do. 42 cal? Dunno.
