Why is Delaware Wayne's World that movie was as much about Chicago as Blues Brothers?

Most of the story of True Grit took place in the Indian Territories, it only started and ended in Arkansas.

I can't think of another movie that would relate to Arkansas.

Because of the Delaware gag they pulled in the movie showing off their new green screen for the Wayne's World public access show, putting up post cards of different places and acting it out being goofy and stereotypical for each locale. Then someone puts on a Delaware post card as the backdrop and Wayne and Garth go:

"Hey um... We're uh.. In Delaware. Yeah um. Hi from ah... Delaware. Yeah..."

Iowa

So glad they didn't pick Cedar Rapids, Take this Job and Shove It, or The Crazies.

Heeeeey yoooou guuuuys!!!

I'm surprised they didn't label Oregon as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

Huh.  'First Blood' was actually filmed in British Columbia, although it was indeed set in the fictional town of Hope, Washington.

I'm okay with Jesus Camp, but I'd prefer The Outlaw Josey Wales.

Or "Sometimes A Great Notion"  ;)

Would have been pretty fitting, actually.

Isn't there some old B John Wayne movie that takes place in the MO Ozarks.

Thing is, the setting of One Flew Over the novel was an Oregon mental hospital, and then the film was actually filmed in the Oregon State Hospital in Salem. Sometimes a Great Notion was set in a fictional county, for which they used Lincoln county for part of the filming. Plus a lot of Oregonians are just batshit crazy, so bonus points for the Cuckoo's Nest.

Really?!?!  One line in the entire movie?!?!  You mean that there are no other movies about Delaware, except one that takes place almost entirely in Illinois (and Milwaukee), and they have to dig up a one liner from that movie to represent Delaware.   No wonder Joe Biden was its Senator....

Had no idea there was a film version. I just know it as a book and stage play (but haven't read/watched either).

Smokey and Bandit was only in one town in Texas to pick up Coor's Beer. Then it was all across the Southland.

I knew without even looking that Georgia would be stuck with Deliverance.

Seriously lacking in imagination. I wonder if they ever heard of a little film called Gone With the Wind?

I thought they ended up in Texarkana.

Either way, I agree with the sentiment.  There are other good movies that would work better.  Lacking imagination is right.  I think they just picked the first movie they came to for most states.

Started in Texarkana, ended up on Georgia IIRC.

Gummo (Ohio). I've never heard of it. But even reading the Wiki summary depresses me. But then, the Xenia/ Dayton area depresses me as well.

If it was where they ended up, they could have used Outlaw Josey Whales for Texas.  However, I thought of The Alamo first.  They could used any number of John Wayne and other Westerns for Texas and several other states.

The Alamo for sure . . . but they passed over Secondhand Lions and  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Best Little Whorehose in Texas and Last Man Standing and Texas Across the River and . . . aww, heck, here's a list:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_set_in_Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_set_in_Texas)

And Oklahoma doesn't get Oklahoma!, the musical?

And they didn't give New York Godzilla?

I could go on . . . bad list indeed.
