I always thought the chief justice of the SC administered the presidential oath of office, but Michelle Obama did the official swearing-in on Sunday.
What's with that?
-
Does it matter? It was all a farce, anyhow.

A farce implies humor.
And this one isn't really funny. =(

The official swearing in was done in a private ceremony.

If you prefer, a travesty.
travesty
trav·es·ty [trav-uh-stee] noun
1. a literary or artistic burlesque of a serious work or subject, characterized by grotesque or ludicrous incongruity of style, treatment, or subject matter.
2. a literary or artistic composition so inferior in quality as to be merely a grotesque imitation of its model.
3. any grotesque or debased likeness or imitation: a travesty of justice.
verb (used with object)
4. to make a travesty on; turn (a serious work or subject) to ridicule by burlesquing.
5. to imitate grotesquely or absurdly.
But I still think farce works:
farce
[fahrs] noun
1. a light, humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skillfully exploited situation rather than upon the development of character.
2. humor of the type displayed in such works.
3. foolish show; mockery; a ridiculous sham.

The Chief Justice did do the swearing in. Michelle Obama just held the Bibles.

Which if you go through the pictures of other Presidential swearing-in ceremonies, is often done by the spouse. I have seen pictures of this going back for decades.

She held the Bibles? What, no Koran?

Grep the psalter in that one for the string "fhtagn".

On the news, they mentioned that one of the bibles had belonged to Lincoln and the other had belonged to MLK Jr.

Who decided that since swearing on one Bible wasn't enough to make BHO honor the oath he took four years ago, maybe two would?
(I'm just amazed that either one of them could even touch a Bible and not burst into flame or turn to dust.)

I don't grok.
