...than an "assault weapon". Or so says expert Joe Biden. So if it's a hurricane instead of an earthquake, what do you use then?

Well, then, he should order the Secret Service to get rid of all guns except double-barreled shotguns. Lead by example.
-
Earthquake = SxS shottie
Volcano = O/U shottie
Hurricanes = Hawkins rifle
Tornadoes = thuddy-thuddy
Zombies = Drilling
-
Is this the Biden "town hall" thingee?

Pretty much.

Yes.

Can we just ban Biden?
I think we'd all be much safer, or at least less confused by his logic and reasoning skills.

QFT.
Although this is pretty handy for home defense!

I played the same video game that Biden has and could argue that a 'n00b t00b' is easier to make hits with than a shotgun. So Joe, why don't you push for legalizing RPGs and rocket launchers?
-
The VP has defended himself after an earthquake? How else could he be an expert on this subject?

Yes he has. Just like he was near the Lancaster school shooting. ;/
-
Based on Biden's recommendation alone, I may just have to sell my coach gun & get an AR.....and I don't even like AR's...... :facepalm:
-
Wonder why they are going after those scary looking guns instead of the more effective, easy to use, high capacity* double barrel shotgun?
*I predict that once some homicidal looney is forced to use a shotgun for his killing spree because of magazine limitations, that the media will go bonkers when they learn that one shotgun shell has hundreds of "bullets" in it.

Good point.

Biden doesn't realize it, but he has something of a point.
I had a discussion with a budding-anti niece about AR's and 30 round magazines. She was going on about how quickly AR's can kill. I explained to her that one pull of the trigger on an AR15 launches a 55 grain .22" diameter projectile that hasabout 1300 foot-pounds of muzzle energy, while one pull of the trigger of a shotgun loaded with 00 buck releases 9 55 grain .33" diameter projectiles that have about 1600 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. An AR15 with a 30 round mag is going to release 30 of these projectiles, while a shotgun with a seven shell tube is going to release 63 of these projectiles. On that basis of that, I asked, which should be banned? She didn't have a good response.

I keep a loaded 12 gauge at home for defense ~~ but it ain't no "Biden" double-barrel. It's a Mossberg 500 with a side-saddle. I also have an AR. I wouldn't feel poorly defended with the AR loaded & ready.
I would, however, not really care for the Biden double barrel as I'd like a tad more firepower even in 12 gauge before reloading. I've always found pumps & semis easier to load than the break-open type shotguns.

The Second Amendment is not about hurricanes and earthquakes.
Shotguns are great--no doubt most of us have one assigned for HD--but they are close-quarters weapons.

Re: A Double Barrel Shotgun Will Keep You Safer...
He's probably just going on some vague memories from his childhood. Grandpa and his shotgun.
Is he even aware that they aren't nearly as popular or available now, pumps being both much cheaper and more capacious?

That is the truth, I've been looking for a nice Italian or Spainish made 20 sxs for under a grand for a long time.

I've got a AYA Matador 20 gauge.
(Can't have it. Legacy gun -- was my Grandpa's. It's also a bit unreliable -- liable to touch off both barrels with one trigger pull. Pretty though.)

I was thinking something closer to a Grulla Armas. :)

I think it has become abundantly clear that in the view of those who presume to rule over us, were are only fit to own weapons from the mid 19th century, if anything at all. That is "common sense" for them.

Dibs on the Gatling gun and Parrott Rifle....

What shape bullet for politicians from a Puckle Gun?

Shotguns mess up the paneling too much :lol:

Mountain Howitzer with canister and shot for me, please.

Again with this? Even joking about this in these times is in poor taste, and unacceptable. First and last warning.
-
Wonder if the name "biden special" will catch on?

Pump shotguns!! Why, those things can hold five rounds! Or even more! They are murder-death-kill weapons!

You just pointed out a truth at the core of Biden's message.
Double barrel shotguns tend to be more expensive than any other class of firearm.
The thought process behind what Biden said, whether he is smart enough to realize it or not, is the exact same concept from Jim Crow laws in different states that banned the sale of handguns except for models that were used by the Army or Navy (Colt or Remington Revolvers) which were economically out of reach of the ethnic groups that they were trying to subvert.

Not at all. There is a widespread misconception that side-by-side shotguns are some kind of ubiquitous firearm that every redneck has in his closet or in his truck, somewhere. Just watch movies or TV shows, or even video games. They crop up everywhere.

At one time that notion was true, but then sometime about 120 years ago pump shotguns suddenly came into existance, and soon you couldn't walk across a street without tripping over one of these high capacity assault weapons.

yep the evil 1893 Winchester.

Dear, Biden says we need a double barrel shotgun to defend our home. I don't have one of those so I'll be going to the gun store tomorrow.
Actually I'd like to have a decent coach gun in 12 ga.
-
I see a fair number of old Fox doubles showing up in the used racks, I may liberate one. Is there a really strong double out there? Be fun to turn one into the 12ga from Hell, see how crazee Joe likes us with an elephant gun.

I think a fully rifled 12gauge sxs that was regulated would be the cat's pajamas.
-
Of course I don't believe Biden was talking about coach guns, or even knows what one is (or maybe he watched a lot of Westerns and knows what a movie shotgun is). I'd like to give him my SxS bird gun and let him try and maneuver it around inside a home that has hallways and stuff.

You mean watch him snap his fingers and have the men with guns who have been protecting him most of his adult life clear it for him?
-
Having watched a klutz, but an intelligent klutz, like John Kerry shoot a shotgun, the idea of a moron like Biden shooting one scares the hell out of me.

I'm sure the Mossberg maverick O/U would freak him out. Before the the recent unpleasantness, they were going for about $350.

Well yeah, that. :laugh:

I just remembered this campaign stop where Biden said that if Obama tries to "fool with his Beretta, He's got a problem."
So I wonder if he has O/U Berettas or Semi Autos? Why could he possibly need TWO shotguns for???? :D

Yes, that's right, fistful. Proper nouns like names are suposed to be capitalized.

It's Nazi. :P
Or perhaps I don't want to give nazis the satisfaction of having a proper name. :P

Don't worry. I continue to think SPAM is disgusting, so hell still hasn't frozen over.
