Isn't DHS buying a bunch of those?

Why are gun barrels sticking out of the engine? Sucking air that distance through such a small opening will not do good things.

You look at that abomination and the only thing you complain about is the lack of efficiency of mounting a gun barrel on the air intake?

Uhm. Of course?

Actually may help. Think Ramjet. (Yep a Mach3 helicopter. That would be fun to fly.... ;/ )

I want one too, except the hybrid version that runs on unicorn farts.
-
^^^ And has rainbow glitter in the chaff dispensers.

Shouldn't there be a machine gun on the nose? Also, the rotor is taking up valuable space better used by more rocket pods.

Could something like that actually ever become airborne?

I kind of doubt it. Aside from the gun barrels blocking the air intakes, the tank treads are neither light nor aerodynamic. If it did take off it'd probably be like flying a whale.

If you have enough power and wing surface you can make anything "fly".

And it was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS! Said no one ever...

I love inventions from the 1900s-WWII. You'll see some of the craziest *expletive deleted* ever...
The closest thing to the OP's incarnation these days is the MI-24 which is very well armored for a helicopter.

plenty of ballast to remain upright!

If you really do like that kind of thing, this webcomic has a fair amount of vehicles like that photoshop. Plus power armor...
