So, back at the end of February I had placed an order for an Uberti Schofield No.3. There were not any available at the time so they had to put in the order in with Uberti so they would get one in on the next batch to be made. So I give them all that is required at the time to buy it, a copy of my orders showing I am stationed in this state and a copy of my rental agreement showing I have a residence here because apparently having governmental orders showing you are stationed here isn't good enough, ;/ Well yesterday they finally called me to let me know that it was in, unable to go then because I was on duty, :'( So today I finally make it there and then I get informed that during the summertime a new law was passed and now I have to show another form. I need either a car registration, which I don't have since my car is registered back home because I want nothing to do with this damn state, a California drivers license, same reason as before, or some type of official document from my command showing that I have a residency here, are you shitting me!? My *expletive deleted*ing orders and my rental agreement don't already prove that!?
When the hell did they pass this crap?
So now after I get admin to type that up for me tomorrow and then take it back, I still have to wait an extra 10 days, 240 hours, that I have to wait before I am allowed to actually take possession of it, and that's not show up before they are closing to fill out the paperwork and come back on the tenth day when they open, that's a show up at 13:01 to fill out the paper work then on the tenth day pick it up no sooner than 130:01.
*expletive deleted*ck you California, *expletive deleted*ck you.

Settle down there big fella. take a deep breath, just think, in 10 short days you'll have a nice new gun and I'll be jealous of it.

At least that flop-top Schofield made the California import list. ;)
-
Would love to have me a Schofield repro. What caliber?
-
.45LC
-
I want to open carry one of those.
Heck, why not two of them?

Is it because he's from Schofield?

Have you seen Unforgiven?
If not, go watch it, then all will be clear.

Have you seen Unforgiven?
KID
Yeah. Yeah he did. I'm a killer myself, except I ain't
killed as many as you because of my youth.
The 'Schofield Kid' is what they call me.
MUNNY
Why? Are you from Schofield
KID
No, it's on account of my Schofield model Smith and
Wesson pistol.
How about it, Will?
-
At least that flop-top Schofield made the California import list. ;)
Single action revolvers are exempt from the listing requirements.
S.K.: Congrats on the new toy.
-
Have you seen Unforgiven?
Ok, so I forgot one line from the movie. :P
Chris
-
Did they stretch the cylinder and frame to fit .45 LC?
I knew the originals chambered .45 Schofield, which was considerably shorter...
One of the revolvers that are on my list to get someday. I want a Colt SAA in .44 Special, first.
-
Did they stretch the cylinder and frame to fit .45 LC?
Yes, I believe they did.
-
Done.
Went and DROSed it. Now I have to wait until the 30th about 30 minutes before they close to pick it up. :'(

Here it is at the store, waiting for me to pick it up and take it home.

ah, I was a bit confused about names and calibers and CA and ...
oh-I thought it was a black powder gun too- awesome I had no idea uberti made repro's - awesome...now there is another gun I want that I have no idea when I'll afford it.
Black powder guns are OK in CA, you can even get them in the mail-you cant carry them though.
-
I had no idea uberti made repro's
I had no idea they made anything but repros. ???
That is one sweet-looking hog-leg, SK. It's even got the oh-so-handy "short" 5-inch barrel. Guess it probably still weighs more than two Glock 19s.
-
If they are doing Those in 45LC, are they also making them in .357mag?
-
I had no idea they made anything but repros. ???
I believe that Uberti does make a couple of proprietary .22 rifles that aren't repros. They are however similar to American Western guns -- lever actions if I am not mistaken.
-
If they are doing Those in 45LC, are they also making them in .357mag?
I thought they did but when I rechecked their website it does not list it. They do offer it in .38 Spl, .44/40, and .44 Russian.
-
Huh. According to their website, they weigh less than I thought, and cost a great deal more.
-
I'm not so sure a break-top revolver can stand a whole lot of .357 Magnum pressures.
-
What's the deal with the trigger spur on the Russian version?
-
Sweet
-
Nice looking pistol. .45 Colt is something I keep a lot of on hand. If you get closer to home and need some ammo, you know where I am.
You changed his name. Now his brothers name doesn't make any sense. We need to fix that.

I was looking for the reason for that trigger spur, (short answer, popular in Europe, Russia wanted it and S&W figured since they were buying thousands of them it was worth adding it on) and ran across this example of a cocking trigger spur on a Tranter revolver. It was actually a second trigger lever that cocked the hammer. Here is a photo for you history buffs:

Geez, I thought you were going to post a picture of a revolver! =D

He did, you can almost see her cylinder gap.
Also, break-tops are da bomb. And that Scho is one pretty gun.

And it has more class then 10 Glocks.

That thing is freakin' nice.
I might have to get one of those eventually.

No, silly. A purple poncho.
Or whatever that thing is that she's almost wearing.

Duh, I was talkin about Freakazoid's picture:
The rug next to that weird old gun is amazing. I bet it really ties the room together.

Dude, if you want to come out of the closet, it's cool; we won't judge. But this is an awfully strange way of going about it.

Time to go shooting before the range closes! [ar15]
-
Bee-u-ti-full.
-
Those are classy guns, I give you that.
I've always been drawn to the '75 Remington .44 New Army, and to a lesser extent the '58 in percussion cap variety. Its prominence in Hell on Wheels is reminding me of my original attraction to it from one of the Eastwood classics, I think it was Pale Rider.

After action report.

I only have one regret, that I wasn't stock piling up on ammo for the eventual day that it came in! :'( When I went to the range only had the 20 round box of Hornady and the 50 round box of American Eagle. After shooting that up there was no way I could stop there so I bought the 50 round box of Remington and proceeded to shoot that all up. Now I have no more ammo. :'(
I'm definitely going to be shooting this a lot!

Do you reload, Freak?
I have about 200 pieces of assorted .45colt that I happened into several years ago, along with .45colt RCBS dies. If you're interested in pursuing the skill, let me know. I'll let it go to an APSer for a very good price. I don't foresee myself getting into .45colt since I'm pretty well set into .44magnum. If I go larger, it'd be to the .480 or .475 territory.

I don't reload yet, but I have been saving as much brass as I can grab with my grubby little fingers when I go to the range.
That's one nice thing about shooting a revolver, makes keeping a hold of your brass a LOT easier.
-
Over half a year is a heck of a waiting period!
I have seen a few of those, but have never got to shoot one. Does it eject everything, or do the unspent rounds stay in the cylinder?
-
When you flick it open the ejector raises out lifting the brass with it. I'm sure if I flicked it open hard enough I could actually eject the brass out that way but I haven't tried yet.
-
On the front of the grip there is a set screw that is called a mainspring screw in parts list page. It sticks out a little bit, you can sort of see it in the pictures. Is this supposed to be sticking out or should it be flush? I don't notice it when I shoot. I've tried turning it with a screw driver but it didn't seem to want to turn, I really didn't put much pressure on it in case I wasn't supposed to move it as I didn't want to damage anything.
