Except be aware that the aviation industry is requires folks to be VERY mobile and also is faced with huge number of layoffs. The industry is very cyclical. If you're mobile enough, it doesn't really matter. Manufacturing may go down, repair tends to go up.
Pay is good, just have to be willing to go to it.

^^ And it has been ever thus. My dad was an aerospace engineer at Boeing for 40 years: 1950-1990. He worked in Renton, Seattle, New Orleans and Florida's Space Coast and survived the layoffs of the 60's and 70's. My sister has been at Boeing for 20 years and she has worked all over the Puget Sound area.

Sikorsky is outsourcing S-92 main cabin work to Tata Advanced Systems Limited in India. The US plant was extremely safe and quality was of the highest order. Photos from TASL are enough to convince me to never fly in an S-92 with any of their cabins. There's going to have to be an insane amount of rework in order for the things to be flight worthy. Quality was crap, manufacturing environment was crap, safety was crap, etc.

Wrench lead, wrenches, flight crew, design engineers and last pilots. That is the order of common sense, and the order of folks you question to get real information.
I know many pilot jokes, but I only know two that are not fairly obscene.

I told a friend who's son is a member of the CAP, and is getting flying lessons that way, soloing at 15-16 etc. through them. She didn't think it was as funny as I did.

I suggest that government/law enforcement are not industries - in fact just the opposite: some sort of anti-industry.
Then I guess there are private prisons =|
I know that airlines are not the same as TSA, but they seem to be continuing the same sort of attitude these days. They charge you extra for checked baggage and then get all pissed because everyone has the maximum allowed size/number of carry-ons :facepalm:
