Title: Dumb APS software question-
Post by: Ex-MA Hole on September 01, 2006, 05:43:56 AM
OK.  This is stupid, but it is driving me knucking futs, and I KNOW that there is an easy answer that I am missing.

PLEASE end the emotional turmoil and help me.

Why are most or our names in Blue, but there is an occasional name in black?

Why, why why?

For instance:

Post #21, her name is in black.

Why!?!?!?

I believe if you disallow all email in your profile, you turn white in my color scheme, black in yours.

The ones in Blue are a hyperlink to your profile.  Black ones are folks that are hiding their profile (no clicky).

Yea, for some reason you can't see their profile.
At first I thought they were guests...posting without registering (So they wouldn't even have a profile.), but it wouldn't say "member" under their name if that were so.

Greg
That makes sense.

Thanks.

Now my mental anguish is over.

Maybe not.

Actually, I can't find a thing in my profile that even hints at 'hiding profile' or some sort...
Get back to the anguish.

Smart people post without registering and it still shows them as a member.

The black names are from people who post without registering. Those people still get the word "member" under their name. The black just distingushes the registered members/posters (blue names) from the non-registered/posters members (black names).

As far as I know, registered members can't hide their profile. Also, as far as I know, allowing or disallowing email doesn't change the colors of anything either.

When reading threads the name colors are in a rather pleasing muted burnt sienna, (perky but in a comfortable way)  and "member" is in black. The borders are also in burnt sienna.   When I hit the reply button (or caress it, as the mood dictates) the names now are in black, but the borders are still burnt sienna.

Of course those of us who have been elevated to (il) literati status, can be whatever color we wish.

A sulferite, hey? I thought that lithium, with it's muted greens, was the most comforting.

BTW, I should mention that most of the names are in a muted green, not blue. Wink (Really confused now?)
