As someone once said "Wars are how Americans learn geography." Looks as if we need another one here. ;/ :lol:

Most of those don't reflect on intelligence or education. Map-drawing is not something most of us do, well, ever.
Even the map that he liked ended up putting Baja California on our side of the border.

I would probably do a horrid job. I can't draw very well, period.
I also have no shame admiting that I can't recite all the states, can't remember half the capitals and would probably forget one or two even if I wrote it down.
I do that with guns and dogs too. I know every dog in the kennel I just cleaned, and even going in order I couldn't recite it from memory.
And I know these dogs a hell of a lot better then all the states.
Being able to recall, memorize and regurgitate is not an indicator of intellegence.

This. I know what the US looks like.
I also know what my wife looks like.
In both cases, if I tried to try the subject, it would not reflect what it actually looks like.

I could reasonably draw all the states in the west and south.
But I would probably just label a big block in the northeast "damn yankees" :P

The drawing is hit or miss. But I could get all 50 states* on the map, in roughly the right spots (only because I can't draw).
*Along with their capitals, had learn them all in 8th grade. And can still recite the states in Alphabetical order.

Mine might say something like Frozen Wastelands of the North. =D. Depends on your perspective I guess. You might call that Canada.

A lot of those maps are better than any I could do.
Geography was not my best subject.
That's why I have a shortcut on my desktop to a US map, and another one to a map of Colorado counties. Damn handy.
Hell's bells, I can't even keep road and highway numbers straight. I-25 is north-south through the state, and I-70 is east-west. That's about it for this "bear of very little brain."
For the world, I have a 1-ft globe I picked up for two bucks at a garage sale. It's pretty out of date now, though, and I haven't used it much, but sitting atop a bookshelf, it makes me look smart.
But I ain't.
Come to think of it, if we were all geographical geniuses, we wouldn't need maps in the first place....

Only when the currency exchange rate favours our frozen northern neighbors, then they flood across the border like lemmings on the way to the sea. But in fact, are only headed to Great Falls. ;)

When I went north and back again, I missed most of those towns :lol:
Prince George, BC was about the only real city, and I guess Yellowknife might qualify since it's the YT capital.

I heard Western Canadians don't care much for Eastern Canada either.

I'm not much of a freehand artist, so any map I drew wouldn't be particularly accurate . . . and I'm pretty sure I couldn't place all of Obama's 57 states in their proper places.
But in the waters west of CA, I'd probably pencil in "Here be dragons . . . " ;)
