Title: Gerber Exchange A Blade Pocket Knife
Post by: TechMan on January 10, 2014, 08:52:09 AM
Cool little knife from Gerber.  It uses a standard utility knife blade, which you can swap out.  It measures 2.5" long in the closed position and weighs about 2 oz.

Which brick and mortar stores carry these? Anyone know?

Target has had them in the camping aisle from time to time.

Otherwise, Amazon has them, or CountyComm.

I'll check Target next time. Just checked Home Depot. Nope.

I had one of those for a while, and I've tried other utility-razor folding knives. They make bad utility knives, and worse pocket knives.

Not my experience.

It's perfect as it provides a sharp thin blade for precision cutting/shaving things, and at the same time, it's useful for grunt-work cutting to spare the edge of the pocket knife or multi-tool, like on cardboard boxes etc. It gets a lot of use at work where it's a much more PC alternative when new PC's and servers/gear arrive and need to be unboxed, and at Christmas time, when there's lots of kids toys and gifts to be liberated from packaging.

The shape of it, the grip is not comfortable for long-term use, but that's not what it's for. And it would be bulkier and less convenient to carry.
