But in a couple places on the book of face, I commented that the officer in the background is there to make sure that the good
'tard Senator doesn't bludgeon himself in the head with a .30 caliber magazine clip in half a second.

Sadly, he's not even that far out there compared to other Democrats here. Leeland Yee and a few others are just as whack. De Leon is going to be the next state senate leader, and is simultaneously under FBI investigation for various illegal acts. The investigation didn't seem to affect his "promotion".

That seems to be a requirement, to be under investigation or indictment, for D's to get promoted within their party.
