Title: Heizer introduces .223 pocket pistol
Post by: Balog on April 22, 2014, 11:52:05 PM

Seems like a silly idea. Terrible ballistics, mind numbing flash, sized like a small 9mm.

$450 for a single-shot poodle shooter?

Another answer to an unasked question.

You guys just don't appreciate progress. I plan to carry one as a backup to my Judge.

The real question is: Can the ATF use this to muck up anything else for the rest of us?

My first thought as well.

(I don't think so, since .223 pistols have been around for several years).

And the steel core 5.56 that's imported is exempted by name.

Gives new meaning to "Saturday Night Special."

'Cause you never know when the short bus might get hijacked.

You guys are thinking it's silly because it will barely outperform a 22 magnum from that short of barrel.  But you are missing the point.  It's not a defensive pistol, it's a pocket flamethrower.

i'd be curious to see how far the flash would travel.

Gee, with that ultra-short barrel, a .223 bullet might even be subsonic, at least with some ammo . . . and then it could probably be suppressed efficiently.

Ya know, if thing was cheap enough, say sub $250, I'd get one just to experiment with alternative loadings.  How about a "heavy for caliber" lead bullet with a charge of Trail Boss to start with.  Success would depend on the twist rate, but it could be a fun experiment...
