I guess if I were eating Taco Bell a lot, was in the middle of tactical ops constantly and had no inclination as to where or when...
-
It's neat, I just don't see myself wearing one. (And you should probably be grateful.)
-
I'd wear it to Defcon... Tis about it.
-
I have several kilts, ranging from my formal Prince Charlie outfit ($ 2000) to some more informal and SportKilts. These look to be a good price, so I am pondering it.
-
For the love of Spork, if you people must wear kilts, keep them ON! Do not take your kilt off!
-
I'll wait till Kilted To Kick Cancer and send my money to them.
I've seen a picture of my father all dressed up in some Highlander dress rig during WWII, and am also aware that I inherited his legs among other features. Kilts apparently 1) do not come in floor-length, and 2) should if I were to wear one.
stay safe.

Wasn't this an April fools joke a few years back?

I thought so. However it's a mild one, since there already were several makers of Utilikilts or cargo-pocket modern kilts. And I think 5.11 might have gotten a lot of requests and made a real product from it.

It was. And it created such a stir, that they had a limited production run of them, which sold out rather quickly.
I
*expletive deleted*ing
want
one.
And I'm in "not a penny of spending" mode waiting on the new house closing.

I've been looking for a new kilt. If a "coyote" colored 5.11 was available in my size I'd get one today.
For an even less expensive kilt check out: www.utkilts.com (http://www.utkilts.com). Good quality, great price, lots of pockets.
-
I might have to grab one of the 5.11's. I like the idea of a non traditional kilt, but keep balking at the cost of Utilikilts. I could stomach ~$80 on a lark.
-
I looked at the utilikilt a little, but I think I like the 511 mo betta.
-
They need some 5.11 lederhosen or bundhosen for the German ancestry. Not everyone wants to wear a skirt. [popcorn]

The gunboard obsession with kilts is weird. That is all.

Maybe I should get one to wear to the APS meet-ups. =D [popcorn] [popcorn]

I know how to castrate cattle.

Not that weird. Scots tended to be independent, fierce warrior folks who (in the romantic versions) got steamrolled and absorbed in to the "civilized" English. Wonder why American gunnies resonate with that story.
Add in that the folks on that island, and later in the colonies, inter bred enough that almost every white american has at least one kilt wearing ancestor and poof! Instant heritage.
Besides kilts are comfy. (I gave in and ordered one. :D)
-
kilts are like funny hats
10 minutes after putting one on, you forget you are wearing it and then you wonder why the folkes in walmart are pointing at you...

No Scot in my ancestry and the European roots have been in N. America since the early 1600's.
-
I said almost.
-
someone in your family tree must of had a bit Scot in 'em,
we are horny bastards.

Now that would be funny.

I do have two pairs of Bundeshosen that I brought back from Germany, sadly they have shrunk over the years. Used to wear them all the time in the spring and fall.
-
Wore mine while I worked on my truck today. It is as epicly awesome as predicted. Women swooned.*
*OK just the wife, and it might have been lack of air from the giggling but still, light-headed woman.

I'm roughly 1/4 Scottish.
I don't brag on it though.

I just ordered one. They were out of charcoal in size 36, so I bought one in black. Based on the reviews, it said to buy your pants size, and not use the other traditional kilt measurements.
-
I shall be deploying the tactical kilt today at the Mt. Vernon Highland Games. I told my wife that if I am hit upon by a 45 year-old redhaired female making $ 80,000/year who likes my kilt, I cannot guarantee what will happen. She wished me luck with that.
-
What are you using as a sporran, I was thinking the 6.6 pouch would be the ticket. ;)

If it's not plaid -- what's the point?
Of course, my grandfather was in the Black Watch early in WW1, so I may be a bit biased.
-
So at the Highland Games (A), there were a whole lot of middle aged white guys also wearing kilts; and (B) amongst that group I stood out by not having a large beer gut. No redheaded or for that matter, any colored hair women hit on me. Hmm.
