So as I read this story, smoke started coming out of my ears like a B-movie sci-fi robot that just ran against a brick wall of conflicting logical commands.
I'm actually not sure how I feel about this. I'm a firm believer that EBT cards should only be used for life necessities. Does that include a gun? I would argue that everyone has the right to one, but is it my responsibility to buy them one with my tax dollars? On the other hand, I'm already buying them food, so why not the gun? On the third hand, IMO 75% of people on the EBT probably couldn't pass the background check.

Sounds good to me.

I'm not sure but are the EBT cards ONLY for welfare type payments? I'm thinking some payments such as child support collected via garnished wages, tax refunds and such may get paid on EBT cards.

I'll just be happy if they stop spending it on liquor and strippers.

I don't think so. But that is a good idea! Actually, ALL child support payments should be done that way, to prevent misallocation

Sorry, nope. If they wanted a gun, they'd get a job, earn some money and buy a *expletive deleted*ing gun. Don't take my tax dollars for yet another welfare entitlement.

That's not what the bill is about. This is about what people can buy with the EBT they already get. Here:
“Any person who receives public assistance is prohibited from using an EBT card or cash obtained with an EBT card to gamble or to purchase tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, lottery tickets, firearms, or adult entertainment,” reads language from the bill, which also bars use of the cards or cash received for Tattoos and Body Piercing.
Gun aren't tobacco, tattoos, or porn. No one's ever failed to protect their children from home invaders, through lack of porn, tattoos, or cigarettes. This bill should be voted down simply for the high stupidity of putting firearms on the same level of importance or utility with having a picture of a tiger drawn on your back, while you smoke a swisher, and watch Naughty Nurses IX.
We have enough restrictions on firearms, and we've already made it difficult enough for the poor to obtain and carry them. We don't need to be going any further down that road.

What about all the poor hardworking single moms?

Tell him they are corrupting influences, that would endanger his immortal soul. I'd better keep them.
