Besides being amusing; I think there is an excellent lesson about deescalation and whatnot.  But then again, the suspect asserts he has been arrested 22 times....

They seemed to spend an awful lot of time just getting one cantankerous drunk to the pokey.

I'd assume then that this area has a low crime rate and that the police can take lots of time per call?

Seems more Mayberry and less Detroit.

Like the way a person with a brain wishes things would always be.

edit.In hindsight,I'd bet that scenarios like this happen daily all over the world.It just only makes the news on a slow news day.Sad,that.
