Not being connected to social media, I did not become aware of this collapse of civilization as we know it that lasted from around noon till 2 PM.
Thankfully, the evening news brought me up to date, including recordings of 911 operators telling callers that it was not a legitimate use of the emergency system.
So - how many of you were traumatized?
stay safe.

I saw it was down. I took a nap.
-
I was out working on the yard most of the day - wasn't even aware of the facebookalypse.....
-
Oh no! Just as I was about to go on it for the first time in two years and remove all the spurious friend requests from insurors, pizza delivery services, liquor stores...

So, are we saying that the face hit the fan, or that the S hit the face? ???

One of the better responses that I saw:
"Mass panic among 35-45 year-olds when they find they cannot report what they had for dinner."

I thought that's what Twitter was for.

I thought that's what Twitter was for.
Maybe people put that stuff on Instagram too. It was supposed to be down as well. The horror.
-
totally missed it.

Did anyone die?
We don't know - nobody was able to update their status.

I heard about it on the news on my way home from sailing.
-
This is the first I'm hearing of it.

Never went down for me.

Are you doubting the 6 o'clock news? Especially the NBC affiliate 6 o'clock news?
stay safe.

Never went down for me.
Well, now we know what you do instead of having a life.
stay safe.

Mountainbike trip up at Kettle Moraine South,Wi so I was camping Wed-Fri with no electronics.
It is always nice to escape the virtual world and the phony constructs of society for a couple days. I've come to believe that occasional unplugging from our electronic mass media in all forms is necessary to mental health :P

Facebook down, US productivity rises, stock market rallies, 0bama claims credit.

I don't know that any friends of relatives of mine would call 911, but there's a couple who just live on there. My obnoxious SIL, who's about 300 pounds and always having health problems and surgery, posts all day long. Her posts are recipes, articles about food, and the latest information on her latest illness or surgery. I often wonder why she can't make the connection between her obsession with food and her health problems.
A niece of mine posts all day long about absolutely nothing. She got married recently, and posted all day long while they were on their honeymoon. I was doing something all day (and all night) long on my honeymoon, but it wasn't posting on Facebook.

Yeah, I didn't even notice.
I check 2-3 times in a 24 hour period, TOPS.
Sometimes it sits for days.
-
What is Facebook? Is that where you put the book you're reading over your face to block out the light for a nap?
-
I uninstalled the FB app from my smartphone, so I check it maybe 2 times a day. That's if I remember.
-
I'm on it too much. But I could give a *expletive deleted*it if it's down. I work for a .gov contractor....I'm used to equipment being down

That also explains why you can spend so much time on it . . .

.... I work for a .gov contractor....
Prove it!
Sure, you are employed by the .gov. But "work" for them? [tinfoil]
Next thing we know, you'll be telling us you are gruntled.
