Title: Are the bolts interchangeable between Remington 700's and 721's?
Post by: Balog on September 12, 2014, 01:07:29 PM
Simple question. I know the 700 is descended from the 721/722, and I have seen people saying that the bolts are interchangeable. Since the big problem with the 721 is that the extractor is riveted on and if it fails you can't get replacements, the ability to just buy a new production 700 bolt if that happens substantially changes whether or not my little 721 is a viable option to keep long term.

I would have a Sako extractor conversion done to it. I have a kit sitting here if my 722 ever has an issue.

Is this the kit you're referring to? http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/extractor-parts/extractors/sako-style-extractor-kit-prod12721.aspx

That's the one. I still haven't looked at what it takes to install. I figure a friend and I could get the tooling and setup lined out over a 12 of Shiner Bock.
