Title: Wonder how far this is going to get them

Apparently, some European Jews have decided guns are a good thing now. Would be curious to see what, if anything, comes of it.

“We hereby ask that gun licensing laws are reviewed with immediate effect to allow designated people in the Jewish communities and institutions to own weapons for the essential protection of their communities, as well as receiving the necessary training to protect their members from potential terror attacks.”

Better late than never.

Allies who value life and property enough to take up arms in defense are good allies to have.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said that while guns could help Jews defend themselves against an individual attack, only authorities can protect them against a mass attack like those carried out in France.

“As to personally being armed, such a move could help when a Jewish person is threatened by thugs, but won’t help if G-d forbid, Charlie-type terror attacks are launched,” Cooper said.

“Bottom line: Only the Police and intelligence can protect France’s Jews from terrorism,” Cooper said, noting that it is expected French authorities will continue boosting defenses. “If the government doesn’t, then there is no long range future for Jews there.”

“In the meantime, additional steps by the community to train and defend Jews from hate attacks are appropriate, necessary, and prudent,” Cooper said. “I pray that all these steps will help.”

Idea!
Why don't the Wiesenthal Center bunch move to Europe where the Police State promises to protect them and invite the European Jews who want more freedom to move to the USA? Win-Win.

I like that idea.

Most Jews that I know that know enough to discuss theology confuse just who chose whom to become "The Chosen People".

Then there is that whole "waiting for Elijah" thing, which seems to form a great part of the reason why even Conservative, Reform, Progressive and non-participating Jews have not picked up guns and settled things.

Can't remember where it is, or how much I'm adding in from the New Testament Christians, but I do seem to recall that Elijah is not just hanging back in the wings until he feels good and ready to step on stage.  I'm pretty sure I recall something about folks having to prepare the way for him.

Till the majority decides to get on board there will be lots of talk and only a few fringe groups taking action on their own.

It's a great part of why I converted to Reform Druidism (We Piss On Bushes As Well As Trees).

stay safe.
