Okay APS.....and...... GO !!!!

And if you haven't seen it, there's a video of Mall Cops in Training on my FB page. It's a riot....

Gecko 45 was a game changer in the field of mall security, it took the rest of the malls years to catch up. Even now they keep some things secret, like "special" boots.

Go to the bathroom and get a drink before clicking on this, no really, do it. (http://lonelymachines.org/mall-ninjas/)

I heard that on the radio, and was certain one of you would catch it before I made it home to post.. Too funny.

*Shaking head sadly*
"YOU, TEENAGERS! I SAID NO SKATEBOARDING! SNIPER, TARGET IN THE OPEN, BLONDE PUNK ON BOARD, RANGE 200, SEND IT. "
-
In an underground training room, security training supervisor Lt. Zach Hamann demonstrated how he put security trainees through their paces, part of a four-month-long required training regiment, Reynolds said.
Well, dang! I sure hope a regiment is enough. It's too bad he doesn't have a full division, but at least it's not just a mere battalion.

"This is a safe place,"
Uh, no, it isn't. I regard any concentration of people as an unsafe place. Too juicy of a target for a whackjob to resist. even a well trained, well equipped, armed security force would not make me feel safe.

Hell, it took the Kenyan army a couple of days to get four terrorists, and that was after the public was cleared out.
Oh, wait. You said "well trained".
-
I remember when Mall of America had a gang shooting.
Other local malls were selling T-shirts with splatter of red dye and the legend "I went to Mall of America and all I got was a lousy flesh wound."

Yep, and that is why I love Amazon.

Just in time for the Paul Blart sequel.

Yeah, still surprised we haven't seen a coordinated attack on a couple or three malls across the country on a day like Black Friday or any other day for that matter.

The Jihadis aren't the criminal masterminds people on gunboards make them out to be and the govt does do some things right some of the time.

Doesn't even have to be them. Any group that wants to cripple our economy could do some damage.

I think even Stephen Hunter wrote a book about somalis attacking the Mall of America.
I am surprised it hasn't happened with how its a big juicy target.
-
I think it is one thing to have a single nut job work himself into killing other people. It is quite another to have a group of nut jobs together in the same place do it. And they have to motivate themselves to do it, plan it, and get the guns to do it. All without alerting authorities to their plan. I imagine that takes a dedicated group who is quiet enough or smart enough not to alert authorities.

It would be easy enough if a group were to stay off the cell phones and internet and do all of the planning in meat space.

Explosive sniffing dogs...just wait until some potential terrorist figures out how to generate so many false positives that they give up on the dogs.

You mean, it's almost as hard as getting a group of nut jobs together, motivating them, planning, and getting training all while not alerting the authorities to their plant to hijack 4 planes at the same time and fly them into different targets?

The authorities were alerted, they ignored the warning signs.
It was also a hail mary pass. It's been 13+ years and hasn't been duplicated since. The few feeble attempts were squashed by citizens in the airplanes (shoe and underwear bombers).

Yes. Very true.
But as the IRA said in the 1980s: they only have to get lucky once. (And as they will keep rolling the dice...)

I had originally intended to make an exception for religiously motivated perps. Not sure if that is a good exception though.

It sounds easy enough, but probably isn't so easy in practice. Herding cats comes to mind. One or two individuals is much more likely. The larger the group, the less likely they will stay quiet.
As said above, it has happened, I just think it is difficult and rare as history has shown.

Given the population density of Somalis, I'm surprised something hasn't happened.

Doesn't seem to of stopped this sort of thing from happening overseas.

Additionally, it's a good thing we won't have the government ignoring obvious warning signs in the name of "diversity" ever again...
