Title: The Handkerchief
Post by: Perd Hapley on June 23, 2015, 09:49:27 PM
I don't mean the decorative pocket square, I mean the thing for daubing the bedewed brow. What's a good place to get them? Or do you just make yours?

I've been getting mine at Hobby Lobby, but they just increased the price to $1.29. Dang Obama!

Now, just for Liz's benefit, let's get the gay stuff out of the way.  :P

I get mine by the two-pack in digital camo at Wal-Mart.  Around $ 2, if I recall correctly.

Plain old white snot rags from Penny's, and probably Kohl's & Target and a bazillion other places.

Local Stop&Rob has 2 in a cello pac for $1.  They are about 12x12 and after you wash all the starch filler out they are good and unbedewing brows and soaking up snot.

stay safe.

Either that or the old standard bandana in the multi pack from Wally World.
Just another part of my EDC.
A good bandana is a pretty versatile item. Sweat band, head covering, first aid kit, packaging, dire emergency - dispose of after use- toilet paper....

I get mine at farm stores, I pay more for "Made in the USA", the Chinese ones are really rough.

I usually pay about $2 each for them now.

More crap I didn't know, and didn't want or need to know.   Good thing I don't carry a snot rag.

I inherited a bunch of ll bean handkerchiefs.

I just searched on them...  For $25 each I see spending some time putting them up on ebay...

Just make sure they're a "safe*" color in your AO.

* thinking of gangs, not the aforementioned hanky code (although one might want to bear both in mind)

If they keep shrinking paper tissues down, I think I may go to cloth handkerchiefs.

I swear their goal is one tissue per nostril per blow.

Trouble is those color codes are so unstandardized, you never really know what you might be flagging if you accidentally leave a corner hanging out of your pocket.

Or what  gang you might be offending.

Or what planet you're from.

Wal-mart.

Used to buy the old blue bandanas, but now Ladypine makes larger ones out of misc cotton cloth on sale that I wear as neck rags.  The store ones that size are usually silk and expensive.

Unless the Daltons or James are still around, I doubt I will be confused with any gangs  =D

That's what a long-sleeved shirt is for!

WalMart plain white.  It's like 12 for $5.  Do have to wash them hot to clear out some of the sizing, though.

The local outlet store occasionally runs a good price on nicer ones.

For neck rags and bugout gear, I just watch for cheap shemaghs online and tack one onto an order when I find a good price from a vendor I'm buying something else from anyway.  Makes a pretty good scarf in the winter, and having the option of wrapping my head against the cold and/or sun is handy too.

Yeah, the street gangs don't wear long sleeves  =D

Had to think about that for a couple of seconds.

they are on sale at just about every store or men's department.  I always have one or two with me on these hot days.  Lifesavers.

Ditto. The higher quality ones are worth the bother of stocking up at sale and coupon time.

Lately, I've been losing one a week to clients.  Harnessing natural emotion. 'What you are feeling is natural, there is no reason to be stoic, express yourself.'

Maybe try flannel shirts at Salvation Army store or somewhere similar for $.50, then cut to size.
