Time flies when you're having fun, does it not?
I didn't even realize how long I'd be around this place.
Here's to a damned fine 10 year run for this forum of rogues.... :old:

Ya made me go look. Got me beat by a couple of years. July of '07.

Actually, the anniversary of APS was back on March 3rd. So, we're only 6 months behind on celebrating, that's pretty good for this place.

Jeeze, I just looked at my stats.
A hundred and two days online here. Admittedly, a lot of that time was spent with the page up while I composed one of my massive missives.
Or went to the bathroom.

Apparently I didn't register until Feb '06. IIRC THR was still decent then, and other than lurking here occasionally to see what "Roundtable" posts were going I was probably holding off to see it would stick around or get interesting. Now, I honestly can't remember the last time I logged onto THR.

Yikes! I didn't register until march 9th, 2005. I'm a late comer (that's what she said).

This is my last forum board. I don't frequent any others.
I guess if I was going to waste time with some folks you guys/gals are as good/bad as any other
March 04, 2005, 07:54:53 AM, member #104 in other words this place was doomed from the start!

I don't consider those two endeavors to be mutually exclusive.

Re: "Composing" versus "bathroom-going":
I don't consider those two endeavors to be mutually exclusive.
Correct: Inclusive or, not exclusive or. "And/or" in common parlance. As opposed to "or and not and" or something like that in geekese. Or "nand." Or "not nor." But not "nor." Or something. I'm quizzleated on that one.
I registered on the first day. All you newcomers are blocking my view!

Where's you get your member number from? Maybe I just don't have my member-number glasses on, but I couldn't find mine. I was an automatic transferee from THR (org) to THR (com) to APS or something like that. I'm quizzleated on that one, too.
Now I wonder who member # 230 is.

So far in this thread I'm the OG yo.
-
As long as we're measuring things, are we using inches or centimeters?
Oh wait, I got it now. I'll have 10 years next January. I still lurk on THR and post occasionally, but that's mostly because APS is blocked on AF computers and THR isn't. So I spend time there on my lunch break (and no other time, natch).
-
Mouse over your handle.
Doesn't work for me. I get "View the profile of Doggy Daddy". ???

You're 1396.

I hit 10 years on December 16. I was still in high school when I joined.
Since then I've earned two college degrees with a third currently in progress, got married, bought a house, and have a little one due to come at the beginning of January 2016. A lot sure has happened. =)

Doesn't work for me. I get "View the profile of Doggy Daddy". ???
Don't click, just linger over the member name. Down at the bottom of the screen it will give you the member number.
-
#2080... now I have a sad.
-
Oh, yah. I kept clicking, left button, right button, wiggled the scroll wheel... nuthin'. It's waaaay down at the bottom of the screen in itty-bitty characters. I just didn't have my itty-bitty glasses on. Or my waaaay down glasses either.

Can't get my number to show, though. ???
EDIT: Couldn't find it in the page inspector, either.
EDIT: Ah! of course, it's in the URL request that opens a user profile. Duh. I was looking in the inspector and everywhere else for a 'stats' box or tooltip popup. Thanks 230. (and Warren)

In internet explorer, it's wayyyy down at the bottom of your screen in teeny tiny script.
Move your cursor over your screen name on your post without clicking, and shift it back and forth while keeping an eye on the bottom of the screen for something to flip on and off as you move the cursor on and off your screen name on a post of yours. It doesn't seem to work for the "HELLO 230RN" or in your case, "HELLO CypherNinja" in the page header, but only on the name on your (or another's) post.
Hope that helps.

I am delighted to see the forum that was originally meant as a goof-off corner of THR develop its own culture, superior and fun. I've been distracted by other commitments recently, but the moderators and the members have kept APS alive and thriving. I hope to participate more going forward.

Nice of you to check in Oleg!
It's still a goof off corner of the web but we sure do appreciate the place.
We've even managed to remain somewhat polite...kind of...well, we try.

I think that is my excuse for 92+ days online; surprised it isn't higher actually.
I actually hope no one at work sees my time of day activity stats. =D
-
"I actually hope no one at work sees my time of day activity stats. grin"
Shhhh. Cats. Bags. Let out of. IT Dept. scanning.
I worried a little about that, too, before I retired. I kept thinking that since I had a somewhat flexible schedule, I could always claim that I only netted during my long-overdue and well-deserved breaks, which were at random times. I tried to keep the "humps" near 10:00AM and 3:00PM.
Since retiring, I don't care.
I'm now thinking maybe this whole thread should be deleted, not just locked, but that decision is up to the mods and admins. [tinfoil]

You're welcome. It was a real mystery to me until I accidentally noticed the blinking as I moved the cursor over my name. There are some things which require very specific instructions, like a clockwise turn is required to tighten a screw. Things that are obvious to you and me may not be so to others.
As an example, someone recently told me about a younger person who didn't know what "clockwise" meant. In this digital age, I did not think that was surprising.
So then I told him that "doesil" is clockwise, and "widdershins" is counter-clockwise.
He looked at me as if I had bats in my belfry.

Hope to see you participate more in the future Mr. Volk.

1585, a good year for neat beer and black death. A mixed blessing if there ever was one, so apt.
Edit: Despite my supposed acumen, I still can't grok which page I'm on, or which post I think I'm responding to. In other words, I know what it's like to be 230RN.

I've got some acumen in my left knee. But it only hurts when it rains. Reading time from the grock isn't hard unless you forgot to wind it.
Wait. What, now?

Oooh, that was good. I cackled.
Since it's talk-about-Terry-time, I gotta get this off my chest. And please forgive me Terry, if you're reading this, but for the longest time I didn't get the (obvious) meaning of your handle. To me, 230RN translated to "230 pound Registered Nurse". I had the oddest mental image of Terry for quite a while.

Some people thought it was that I was a Registered Nurse on a Bell 230 helicopter, which used to be used for rescue operations.
http://www.flugzeuginfo.net/acdata_php/acdata_230_en.php
Nothing so dramatic. When I first signed on to a gun board, I thought about a screen name and it just so happened that I had a box of .45 ACP 230 grain hardball sitting on my coffee table.
I had noticed a lot of people used ammo, rifles, pistols, for screen names, so I hastily picked 230RN. Not very creative, but it stuck and I use it on all four of the gun sites I am on. So now people can come across sites to bawl me out for something I dood. Or doodn't dood.
Usually the former.
