In an impassioned floor speech, Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said: “The time for action is now on universal background checks, a ban on illegal trafficking and straw purchases, a prohibition on assault weapons and high capacity magazines. This kind of comprehensive package of reforms has been proposed. This body failed to adopt it. But that is no excuse for inaction now.”

A ban on illegal stuff. Brilliant.

Well, few people will object to a law making illegal the already illegal, and so they won't pay attention. And they just might miss an AW ban tacked on.
-
Outside of Hartford, nobody takes Blumenthal seriously. Inside of Hartford, it's too dark to see.

I'm still a resident of CT and I can't believe the f*cktards in my home state elected this d*psh*t. Elected him knowing all the while that he lied about his military service. CT residents are truly getting the government they deserve. [barf] Let's also not forget he was the state AG when he was telling those lies. So much for honesty from the chief law enforcement official of the state.

I voted, fwiw. Sleepy East Granby ain't got much clout.

I don't know. If he gets any less rational, he could be a serious contender for 2016.

If you have to steal a line, steal from the best. ;)

Hey, I didn't get a Harumph out of that guy!

I apologize, that rant wasn't directed at you.

I didn't take it as such. It is frustrating being in a red town in a blue state. Just listening to Chris Murphy say "cartridges that hold six or ten bullets" made me ill.
-
I gave up on CT years ago. I'll go visit family but when I retire from the CG Connecticut is about at the bottom of my list of places to retire to.

I'm in the same boat. Having moved from an ultra blue town in a blue state though, I'm still trying to figure out which is more frustrating.

Here's another good one, courtesy of the NYT (because every 18 year old out there has the cash for a Barrett):

wish I had the cash for a Barrett.
I mean, good god, I'm betting someone around here has one, but those damn things are rare even among the crazy gun nuts who do spend obscene amounts of money on guns (and ammo!)

I got the cash, but no place to shoot it. A 100 to 300 yard range seems like a waste.

You could put it on your mantle and pat it on the receiver for luck. And put funny hats on it. It would make you smile.
(okay, yes, I'm messed up)
