From Tam's (VFTP) FB page.
Dan Zimmerman. Dead Hooker Magazine.
Roberta Ecks
1 hr ·
Dan Zimmerman, widely held to be a longtime intellectual property thief and, I am given to understand, founder of _Dead Hooker Magazine_, has stolen Tamara Keel's "Fun Show Song" and posted the lovely video made as a Christmas present for Tam by Ambulance Driver and Squeaky and posted it over at TTAG, the other sink of iniquity and inequity with which he is associated, utterly without attribution to anyone but himself.
Other than polite reminders (already issued) and the distant possibility of lawyering up -- Tam's a writer and her stock in trade is the unique groupings of words she creates -- there's not a whole lot that can be done.
But there is one thing. Cato famously ended every speech he made in the Roman Senate with "Carthage must be destroyed," even if all he was talking about was proclaiming Junior Vestal Day. The phrase I'd like you to remember and to post all over the Internet is "Dan Zimmerman. Intellectual property thief. Dead Hooker Magazine." And good morning, search engines!
For those that don't know, several years ago Tam re-wrote the words to "My Favorite Things" into "The Fun Show Song" and occasionally posts them on her blog before the Indy 1500 and other gunshows. A few days ago, Kelly Grayson (known in the blogospere as Ambulance Driver. But not the same Ambulance Driver here) posted a youtube video of Tam's song as a Christmas present to her.

Dan Zimmerman, Intellectual property thief. Dead Hooker Magazine has now taken, both the lyrics and the video and posted them without attribution to The Truth About Guns. Seems he is following in the footsteps of Robert Farago who is notorious for also stealing content without attribution or credit and claiming it as his own. Which is one reason why I never visit or link to TTAG,
-
Is it really so hard to attribute? Maybe a linky?
-
Shots have been fired.

Sean Casey, whoever you are...I will raise a glass in your favor.

Looks like TTAG took it down. I should have gotten screen shots :/

The post has been nemory-holed from both their website and Facebook page.....
-
Too bad the same thing won't happen to the entire site.
-
??? about "Dead Hooker Magazine." Is joke? Why is joke?

An attempt to get the author's appropriator's name associated with Dead Ho Magazine, in the G00gly search thingee.
-
never saw that before. Love the picture of jerky.
-
Scout, that is all pretty esoteric and bizarre, but trust me, I am not visiting TTAG either.
-
I've been using TTAG to stay abreast of gun-related political/social news.
Which sites would be preferred for this purpose?

Good site, though weak on politics.

For some reason, though I frequently tell myself to check out NRA's websites more often, I never do. Have y'all found NRA's sites to be helpful for day-to-day news and such?

Also http://www.pagunblog.com/

Maybe it's due to the holidays, but the sites suggested for gun news don't seem to update very often. They are just blog sites, so they can't really keep up with TTAG's multiple contributors, and 10 or 15 new stories/essays every day.
More suggestions?

PAGunblog.com and SaysUncle.com do get slow during the holidays but that's because gun news gets slow. Nobody's putting put pressers and the legislatures aren't doing jack.
Both of the above blogs give a rip, though, and that's what's different when compared to TTAG. TTAG is just there to get hits. Lets take a look at the headlines for today, which, apparently, you consider important.
"OMG! A Gun Necklace! On CNN! On Trump’s Spokesperson! OMG!" ... Really?
"Self-Defense Tip: Home Carry People. Home Carry." ... Carry a gun while at home. The article is 3 paragraphs and the entire thing is gong to be shorter than my single freaking post here. It's devoid of ANY critical thought.
"The Story Behind the Hartman MH1 Reflex Sight" -- written by somebody that doesn't know how to use guns. Quoting: "My ballistic ignorance and general aversion to breaking down a gun is a source of constant wonder to Jon Wayne Taylor." -- yeah, sign me up for your gear reviews. I can't wait for next week's issue of STUFF I DON'T UNDERSTAND BUT MIGHT LIKE.
"Which Gun Should I Grab For Texas Open Carry?" -- you gotta be kidding me.
"New From Ruger: The Ruger American Pistol" -- that one might actually be good. Written by Dan Zimmerman . Gotta wonder where he might have lifted that from.
"Question of the Day: Is Donald Trump a Friend of Ours?" I've had farts with a better chance at the presidency so I'm not sure why anybody would bother with this question.
"Gun Review: Henry Repeating Arms .30/30" -- oooOOoo a 30-30!
If you want entertainment TTAG is great. It might be plagiarized but, whatever. If you want actual news then SaysUncle.com and PAGunBlog.com are probably your tops. Tam's blog still reigns in snark though.
-
As you said, it's a slow news day.
-
TTAG is the TMZ of the gun industry. I don't mind following multiple sites if it means I'm not sending traffic to that schmuck.
-
Exactly. That guy has been nothing but a leech ever since the blogging business started.
-
One more to try, http://thegunfeed.com/
-
Thanks for the recommendations on gun websites. I've found The Gun Feed to be a pretty good replacement for both DHM, and the Drudge Report. The Firearm Blog is pretty good, too.

www.thetrace.org
Although it is a rabidly anti-gun site it is one of the few sites (pro- or anti-) that reports as opposed to editorializes. Excellent source for facts. I usually start cringing and getting the heebie-jeebies within the first few sentences when reading what the antis have to spew - TheTrace does not cause that response.
Understand that this is not a knock on all the other bloggers out there, to which I would add "Defensive Use of Firearms Digest" which comes as a daily email. Subscriptions start by going to http://lists.pongonova.org/mailman/listinfo/duf-digest .
stay safe.

I'd rather give clicks to Dan Zimmerman, Intellectual Property Thief, Dead Hooker Magazine, than to Bloomberg.
