http://www.breitbart.com/video/2016/05/22/libertarian-vp-candidate-likens-trumps-immigration-policy-to-kristallnacht/
Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union With Jake Tapper,” former Massachusetts governor and current vice presidential nominee on the Libertarian party ticket William Weld said the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s immigration policy is like the infamous Kristallnacht night of the Holocaust.
Partial transcript as follows:
TAPPER: Let’s talk about immigration. You’ve differed with Donald Trump sharply on this issue of mass deportation, his plan to deport the estimated 11 million or 12 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. You told The New York Times about that plan, ‘I can hear the glass crunching on Kristallnacht in the ghettos of Warsaw and Vienna when I hear that.’ Kristallnacht or crystal night in English from the Holocaust, the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after Jewish-owned stores, businesses and synagogues had their windows smashed by angry anti-Semitic mobs. Is that a little strong, you think, to talk about the Holocaust?
WELD: No, no. I don’t think so. I served five years on the U.S. Holocaust Commission by appointment of President George W. Bush and by the way, Israel never had a stronger friend in the White House, and I’m — that was my request, and I’m absolutely certain that as we said in those years, if we don’t remember, we absolutely will forget. And you got to forget a lot of things to think it’s a good idea to round up and depart 1 million people living peaceably, most of them working in America, in the middle of the night. No, not the United States. China maybe, not the United States.
1. Bill Weld? The squishy Republican from wayback? GOPe castoffs for the loss. I know the LP is all socially liberal sex-positive cool-cats, but nobody with any pride boasts of getting sloppy seconds.
2. Is this "Peak Holocaustianity?" Or can it degenerate even führer further, with political goobers hiring on "gait analysts" to suss out the goose step in Donald's swagger?
3. Not sure if this is an improvement over arguing whether to privatize the sidewalks.
-
Enforcing the law, as it currently exists, is JUST LIKE THE HOLOCAUST!!!!
HOW can you not see that, dirty Trumper!??!?
-
"Enforcement of existing law."
Now where could I have heard that before?
Hm.
-
Unfettered immigration is one of the primary reasons I stopped considering the L party a legitimate option when voting.
Flooding the country with unskilled third worlders as well as skilled workers from socialist welfare states will not lead to increased liberty.

Let's get the CDC on that, right away.

1. Bill Weld?
Why did I read that as "JB Weld"?

I completely missed it in all the Trump/Lincoln kerfluffle, what with all the accusations that Lincoln was a fascist and the fascist iconography surrounding Honest Abe.

It looks to some like a posthumous endorsement of the Donald has caused a reappraisal of Abe's administration:
“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” – Abraham Lincoln
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” – Abraham Lincoln
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.” – Abraham Lincoln

JB Weld is actually useful to have around. Bill Weld not so much.

They make it sound like the L.s have already picked a candidate.
I'm about as thrilled with a(nother) former Mass gov running, as I am with anybody from NYC.

Nor will it provide jobs for the almost 16 million people already in the workforce who need work.
15,868,000: The total number of individuals “underemployed” was 15.9 million during January 2016. This includes those individuals who are unemployed (7.8 million), those who want a job but are no longer looking for work (2.1 million) and those individuals who are working part-time because no other work was available (6 million).

Well, get on that. Somebody's got to work and pay taxes so the illegals can get free education and health care.

The fasces were used by Roman magistrates as a symbol of their office and jurisdiction. It is also frequently found in other US iconography as part of symbol of various offices and parts of government. In fact the US Army Military Police Corps uses it in their regimental crest and is frequently found as part of various unit crests and shoulder sleeve insignia.

Given that is prevalent through out US government (like on the wall behind the Speakers Podium in the House of Representatives), perhaps our resident Magistrate should change his avatar to one?

Sure, sure, I know my history. But why should fact get in the way of anyone calling someone a fascist or nazi? It doesn't stop anyone else as far as I can see.

You forgot the back of the Mercury dime, and for that matter, the torch on the back of the current dime looks a lot like they just modified a fasces a bit.

It sure feels like fascism a whole lot, but it our fascists can't keep the airline security running on time. How did we end up with the sucky, can't-tie-their-own-shoelaces kind of fascism?

Considering the the OP it's ironic that the Brown Shirt tactics of street violence and intimidation are only being used by the natural allies of the Libertarian Party, ie the open borders crowd.

Well, the main Libertarian candidate is having his problems also.
As a token of good faith, Austin gave Johnson a replica of George Washington’s flintlock pistol, to let him know that he has Austin’s full support in the general election. Tearing up on the front stage of the convention floor, Austin said to Gary as he presented him with the pistol, “You have my sword, and you have my gun.”
Hours later, a number of delegates were reporting on social media that Johnson was seen tossing Austin’s pistol in the garbage. A husband and wife witnessed Johnson throwing out the pistol and retrieved it from the garbage. The pistol has since been returned to Austin Petersen and remains in his possession.

Either be a man and hand the gun back to your opponent whose support you apparently don't want, or take it and keep it somewhere in your office. Maybe a gun safe.
THROW IT IN THE TRASH!!?! At the same hotel!?!? That was the option you chose?
Well done, Mr. Johnson. You've impressed me with your folly and that's not easy to do.

Yeah, I'm down to Ted Nugent as a write-in at this point...

Sadly, Viable Alternative Man was found to have committed suicide in his apartment by means of stabbing himself in the back repeatedly with an ice pick.

And it's in Florida.
At first I thought they were holding it in Denver, which MIGHT explain Mr. Johnson's actions.
But, I guess he wasn't high. (Or, at least, not legally so.)
...
Is "Florida Man" a contagious disease?

Saw that the other day. Monumentally stupid. Even if he didn't mean it to be, the optics made it look like he was anti-gun/anti 2nd, which is not a good place for a libertarian candidate to be.

??? So, just as classy as Donald Trump, but with a few principles thrown in? Yeah, I guess that might make him a little better. ???

It takes itself seriously, it just also happens to be the home of cosplaying SCA furries who can't keep it in their pants for even one night.

Is there any other kind of cosplaying SCA furry? That was always my back up plan for getting laid at events.
And now that you've told me where they're hiding these days...

although i'm not an open border L... in their defense.
The main thrust behind that viewpoint is that if the social programs and handouts and *expletive deleted*it are gone, and if we're letting everyone in that wants to then having them pay the same share as everyone else, you remove the incentive for freeloaders.

And I think if all the govt handouts and forced freebies weren't there, you would have a lot less people up in arms about it.
However, if we got rid of all that, we would still be a lot better country than most nations and we would still have a lot of 3rd worlders wanting to come here for the better opportunity.

I've already got three people at work who are telling me they're going to write in my name. I only need a few (million) more and I'm in.

I don't say we should shut it down. We never had unrestricted immigration. Even if the laws were restricting it, the cost of travel to the US did it. As long as we can control the numbers to a reasonable level and where they are coming from, I wouldn't have a big issue with it.
