It seems the TSA head was just fired. That might be a good start for this fellow.
I just heard that Trump has a plan to "reform" the VA. If he wants to get re-elected (or maybe just elected) he should promise to do away with VA-run hospitals entirely. (And then abolish the TSA, outright.)

Google 'VA whistleblower' -its absolutely shocking how much corruption there is in the VA system.
Wouldn't it be neat to turn the administration of the VA over to veterans that actually care about their fellow veterans, accompanied by blanket amnesty for beatdowns administered to corrupt former administrators....

Yes, I saw it.
I was thinking that he should be required to get his own medical care through the VA -- and he should get it under a pseudonym, so when he calls for an appointment he gets treated just the same as the rest of us.

Very, very few vets in VA administration.
You would think veteran status would be a preferred status on resumes at the VA. Same with civilians working on military bases and such.

I read that many of the falsified reports at the VA were filed by administrators who got bonuses based on their reported good results . . .
I'm waiting for the news that many of them have been criminally charged, prosecuted, convicted, and are going to prison.
I suspect I'll have a long wait . . . :mad:

You're going to need more than a couple of lunches packed if you plan on camping out while waiting. :(
If Sharon Helman (http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2016/05/16/former-phoenix-va-director-sharon-helman-sentenced/84452488/) didn't get a vacation to Club Fed then no one will. :'(

My experience with the VA is that all they want to do is shove pills down your throat.
I go in with issues with me knee and my "primary" is asking everything and anything else about my health and suggesting one pill or another that I don't want or need.
Then as an after thought asks about the knee and tried to talk me out of an MRI stating if I'm not willing to have surgery then why have one. I said how can one tell if surgery is needed or not if you don't have the MRI. Got the MRI in August, within 45 min of having it my "primary" calls to say that all appears normal but will still schedule an appointment with Ortho. Earliest I saw the Ortho was in January, old school doc, used to cut to see what was wrong because there was not MRI. First words from his mouth are, you have a torn meniscus, shows me the spot on the film, works with me to have the scope.
If I had the Ortho right after the MRI, I wouldn't have had to burn a week of vacation time to have the surgery because I could have scheduled it for when my company was already going to be closed for the holidays.
My experience is that the specialist in the VA system are quite good and actually care, the general practitioners not so much. They seem to be there to draw a paycheck and because they couldn't cut it in private practice.

I'd just put in a Constitutional Amendment that says all healthcare plans provided by the Federal government to any military personnel, current and former, must be absolutely equal. All of them, including the CinC's. See how fast it gets fixed.

Nope. Nothing counts as much as already being a federal bureaucrat. I read somewhere that vet preference can help when applying for menial jobs like janitor & th elike.

VA "Healthcare" almost killed me two years ago.
I started having blood pressure variations and erratic heartbeat. VA put me on a 3-day recording monitor, which confirmed erratic heartbeat. Primary told me it was nothing to worry about. Condition kept getting worse -- primary kept tinkering with my meds, but never put me in to see a cardiologist.
I finally remembered that I'm a senior citizen and I also have Medicare, so I went to see a real doctor. Took one look at my vitals and said, "If you had come in here a month ago with numbers like those, I would have sent you right to a cardiologist." They got me an appointment -- for 8:00 a.m. the next morning.
The cardiologist said, "If you had come in here a month ago with numbers like those I would have sent you straight to the hospital. Which, by the way, is where you're going." Ten days later I had open heart surgery. Had a follow-up with the surgeon a month after the operation. Didn't know exactly what to say, so I half-jokingly said, "Thank you. I guess you saved my life." He didn't even crack a smile -- "I did," he said.
No thanks to the VA.

My VA primary care doc is so worthless I've stopped going. The psych docs too. "HERE, HAVE SOME PILLS"
"Doc, the pills make things worse. Can't we just do a regularly scheduled therapy session or something?"
" We can get you in about once every month or so... starting in 5 months"
Sigh
The primary care doc likes to tell me that lifting weights is bad for me. The funny thing is he's fat, chain smokes, and is giving me advice like that. "The lifting is going to hurt your back and knees"
"That's funny, I haven't had back pain SINCE I started lifting"
"It's still gonna hurt your back. You should stick to running"
"Doc, the running is what screwed my knees in the first place. They've been better since I stopped doing that"
"It's eventually gonna hurt your knees"
At least if the guy wasn't a walking gastic bypass candidate, i'd listen to what he has to say... but i'm not going to listen to exercise advice from someone unfamiliar with the practice.

I'm lucky in that I have good Healthcare through my wife's employer. I don't have to use the VA benefits I earned.
I went a couple times after my third deployment just to get things documented. I couldn't imagine relying on them for keeping me healthy.
