Title: Chelsea Clinton for Congress
Post by: Ben on November 11, 2016, 09:56:40 AM
No link, as I just heard it on Fox Business, but apparently the NY Post is reporting that the NY Dem machine is actively grooming Chelsea Clinton to replace the retiring congressional rep in her district.

I guess the Democrat establishment machine has learned nothing. Sadly, she'll probably get in on the liberal sympathy vote. Seems like besides term limits for congress, we need to look at something like, "If someone in your family has held office, you have to skip two generations before someone else can." This whole "political royalty" thing is getting ridiculous.

A lot of people really like the concept of royalty. People want a 'wise chief', 'noble' or 'king' to make everything work so long as they're loyal to said strongman (or strongwoman). It's kinda an enduring part of history. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

And her ties to the Clinton Foundation aren't exactly clean. Like Bill and Hillary, she'll start her campaign with scandals.

It certainly works a lot better than having an elected person as Head of State, providing that they represent the nation and are not involved in day-to-day politics.  There is no PM that we have had since she was crowned that would have made a better job of it than the Queen has, and for a certainty none of them would have done it for less money.

Member of political family goes into politics. Story at 11.

If she wins, it won't be a sympathy vote. It will be the Clinton vote, same as her mother won on.

I may actually start saying the Rosary again.

Holy Mary, Queen of Heaven, Co-Redemptrix of Humanity, Mother of G-d, Blessed Mediatrix to the Trinity, please don't let Chelsea have any public office.  Ever. Yes, it's that important.

She would actually be less qualified for the job than Obama!

Who was even less qualified than junior Senator Clinton!

Maybe in the spirit of reconciliation Trump could offer her an ambassador position. I think Libya is still open.

Or Iran?

It would be fun to see her have to wear a Burqha. On the other hand, the Iranians would probably throw a bunch of money at the Clinton Foundation. Dilemma ...

Definitely not qualified to be an office assistant. They have to know how to, like, do things.

How about running an IT department?  I hear she is good with servers.

Doesn't matter. She will be the Fresh Young Female Leader just like Obama was the Fresh Young Face of the Democrat Party in 2008.

The position is ordained and another Clinton will be in the White House.

Hopefully someone primaries against her and wins.

I have long figured that HRC's endgame was not the presidency but rather installing Chelsea. Win the white house, Bill gladhands and plays golf and Chelsea is the first lady. I thought that this ignominious defeat would forever end the Bush and Clinton lines. Guess I was wrong.

Let them run Chelsea. I doubt she is much more likeable than Hillary.

New York, a blue state, she has already won.

Back during Gulf War I  there was a Iraqi Anti-Aircraft Gunner known as "The Red Rope Ranger"   Pilots would go on a bomb run into Iraq, and sure enough they'd see this pretty red rope of AAA fire coming up and everyone knew to steer around it.   He was what they called a "Level 3" Gunner.  They never bombed him or targeted him, even if they had unexpended ordinance.  Simply because the pilots knew that if they blew up the Red Rope Ranger, the Iraqi's might replace him with a "Level 8" Gunner.  Someone who understood the concept of AAA and could actually hit what he was aiming at.

In fact, Chelsea running is a good idea.  She'll run for some safe blue seat in NYC, and become a level 3 congressperson (Hank Johnson, Andre Carson, Shelia Jackson Lee).  In other words, like most Democrats, just there to pickup a check and not get caught doing nothing.   And it keeps a level 8 Democrat (someone who actually introduces and tries to advance legislation along) out of the House.

Slow your roll, this election was ordained too and we know how that turned out.
