Title: Slideshow Creation Software

Do any of you folks know of or have experience with a decent freeware/shareware CD slideshow creator?

I'm trying to help a friend create Christmas photo slideshow that can be loaded on a CD and played in a standard DVD player.  We'd like something that can add in some neat but simple transitions/effects and will also allow for the inclusion of some background music.

I've found a couple of sites that may be of help, but if any of y'all have some learned experience or suggestions I'd certainly appreciate your input.
