Not for nothing, but chaps by definition don't have butt covering. There is no such thing as assless chaps.
Now wearing chaps while walking around Main Street assuming you didn't get there on a horse or motorcycle is rather silly looking. I'm assuming you are actually referring to the wearing of chaps without pants. That is rather inappropriate attire for walking down main street.
On the other hand I rather enjoy when the girls at my friends farm that I horseback ride at wear their daisy dukes with chaps. I'm guessing that isn't your complaint though.
