Just saw that the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists have moved the Doomsday Clock to damned close to nuclear Armageddon, primarily because Donald Trump is, well, Donald Trump.
But, over the last few months we've been hearing a continuous screech that Trump is too cozy with Vlad Putin/Russia. Given that Russia is the other big nuke power, you'd think that a cozy relationship, what with agreement on certain positions and a willingness to talk across those national boundaries, would tend to move the clock farther away from Armageddon.
Yet, somehow, the *expletive deleted*ing ice age chill that Obama had with Putin means that the word was farther away from nuclear war then than we are now.
Doesn't make much sense when you think about it.

I saw that the other day as well and thought it was absurd.

Some of the doomsday clock time is dependent on "climate" events so with Trump wanting to "deregulate" the EPA and allow more carbon emissions or whatever that would also cause us to be closer TEOTWAWKI.
-
So, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists is now the Bulletin of Atomic and Atmospheric Scientists?
OK!
Makes about as much sense as the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still being about climate change.

How green can we make a strategic nuke?

How green can we make a strategic nuke?
Well you can get a greenish glow afterwards......

How green can we make a strategic nuke?
Very green, since you can wipe out humanity and stop the man made climate change and let mother earth start all over again.
-
Well you can get a greenish glow afterwards......
If you do it right or enough, you can get the blue glow of Cherenkov radiation.

Whatever made you posit that thinking might apply where demagoguery is involved?

Isn't everything in a nuke green? Uranium occurs in nature ...
Besides, nukes are good: http://www.foxnews.com/story/2007/06/08/animals-thrive-in-evacuation-zone-around-chernobyl.html

I'm not familiar with this doomsday clock. Is it basically a pulse rate gage for liberals?

<shrug>. Just the mirror image of 0, and his Nobel Peace Prize.

Same crap, different president.
Most of us are old enough to remember the same hand-wringing the last time a chunk of America had enough of the leftist "new normal" and Reagan was president.

Yeah, that's when they set it to 3 hours and 40 minutes after midnight...
And then Reagan goes and harshes everyone's liberal buzz by helping implement the most effective nuclear reductions ever seen...
There was a professor at my college who was supposedly was devastated when the nuclear agreements were signed because it proved his position on Reagan wrong...
