http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2017/06/22/americas-complex-relationship-with-guns/
It seems that most Americans want to keep guns away from the mentally ill; people on no-fly or watch lists; and to have background checks for private gun sales and gun show sales. Beyond that, things start to diverge.

Well it's Pew, so the respondents were all questioned between classes and while entering/exiting the Whole Foods and Starbucks.

My restrictions for guns:
They should have the same restrictions as toasters.

But I like using my toaster in the bath!

Full-auto revolvers need to be banned. As well as lever-action belt-fed guns.
Any gun with sights on it makes it easier to aim and therefore kill unprivileged people of color. So banned!
Any gun where the ammunition is easy to find is just waiting to shoot up womyns' safe-spaces, so banned!
Any gun type that has been used in any sort of media to harm someone as this obviously will lead to copycat shootings. Banned!
Any type of gun that has ever scared anyone ever. Banned!

Staple guns?

If you like your toaster, you can keep your toaster. You have my word on that.

Children who are too young to drive one of the family cars to school are probably too young to take one of the family guns to school.
Convicted criminals who are considered too dangerous to possess guns are also too dangerous to be running around loose.
I favor restrictions on actual WMDs - nuclear bombs, bioweapons like anthrax and plague, and many poison gasses and toxins. (Not to include things like bug killer and CO2.)
And I really would not be happy to see things like Stinger missiles, land mines, and satchel charges for sale with no questions asked at the local Walmart or Costco.
And also . . . also . . . well, I'm having a hard time thinking of more right now. ;)
-
One thing I would support, maybe not as legislation but through insurance, is that if you own something with a blast radius it has to be stored in such a way that the blast cannot reach the property of another. This would include apartments, so no storing your satchel charges in your apartment, but if you live very far from people you can have pretty much anything.

Ban caulk guns. For the chillens.

That scares me. Ban it !

I'm in favor of restrictions on automatic weapons firing at more than 750 rounds a minute.
Otherwise you just burn through ammo WAY too fast.
-
I am in favor of a ban on guns that are too loud. Sound suppression should be built into all guns with over 200 dB of sound at 100 feet.
-
"Sound suppression should be built into all guns with over 200 dB of sound at 100 feet."
So, you don't want very many guns to be sound suppressed...

Why do you hate capitalist? ???
-
Don't forget to ban the guns that have the thing that goes up. That one should be banned first.
-
I believe that the laws of physics should apply to all guns, and I don't care if that makes me a statist.

Well, not by force of law at least.
-
I fully support restrictions on gun restrictions.

I believe the loudest possible sound is by definition around 194 or 195 dB - above that, it's a shock wave.

gold plated AKs.

gold plated AKs.
Gold Damascened AKs.
(Currently watching Ian McCullum's video on the process (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KM7ySNWuqU). Up to six months of artisan work for a truly elaborate piece.)

I think we can all agree on a law that bans all stainless guns, unless they have been treated in some way that darkens or colors their ugly, stainless appearance.
It's for the children.
And Hi-Points. Hi-Points just need to go.

What about stainless Hi-Points? Is that a double negative?

Shhh. Talking about them too much might awaken a Lovecraftian horror.
Besides, I think they're zamak and plastic.

actually that is pretty sound reasoning. Gun laws have never been about public safety, but always about public control.

Not my idea, but I agree with it.
Guns are just another consumer product and should be treated as such.

Is it racist to be anti-gold AKs?

So that means 200 dB is a good limit. =D

He is probably a Carry Guard member also. =) Think he might be one of the new NRA self defense trainers?

What my wallet can afford.

Um...no, bad idea. That would lead to the Consumer Product Safety Commission being able to regulate firearms. Bless their ban happy dark little souls, they would ban firearms in a heart beat.

Are you saying the CPSC could ban TVs if they wanted? Or toasters?
I'd love to see all the tears if the CPSC banned TVs.
