So apparently Michelle Obama distributed Dr Suess books to schools when she was First Lady. Melania Trump is doing the same thing, and guess what? Dr Suess is now a racist, white supremacist youth primer. ;/

I will at least give some credit to the school for somewhat separating themselves from the librarian (not mentioned in this article, but a previous one).

I thought librarians were all about celebrating Banned Books Week. That's funny. I wonder if they have a copy of Gone With the Wind.
Huh. It turns out that we're actually in Banned Books Week right now. I wonder how many of them were promoting Milo Y-something's book. ;/
Also, I must add that "Horn Book" is an awesome name for a blog, or a magazine. I hope it's not entirely infested with left-wing noids like Ms. Soeiro.

Racist? I'm not sure that Dr. Seuss characters were meant to be, or even qualify as human. They're "entities".

Dr. Suess drew some now infamous cartoons during the second world war. I am assuming that is what the loon is referring to.

In further news, three children's book authors have declined to participate in an event at the Dr. Seuss Museum because a mural, taken from one of his early books, is "racist." Unhappily, the museum has caved in and announced that they will replace the image with one from a later book.

So much for history. God forbid they might consider using the mural as a teaching moment, explaining WHY it's racst (if it is) and explaining that attitudes toward race have evolved over the years.
At this point, I think we have reached, and passed, the limit of evolution regarding race. I think we're now in a period of devolution. So may people are playing the race card that everything is racial. And, of course, if everything is racial, then it becomes inconsequential and then nothing is racial. :yawn"

More social justice warrioring at work. We have any number of fast food Chinese restaurants around here (as I suspect is the case in most parts of the U.S., although perhaps a bit farther apart in flyover country). They hand out plastic knives and forks for the customers, but when the staff sits down to eat they always use chopsticks. Is it racist for me to have observed that?
A good forty years ago was when the flap first began about not calling Native Americans "Indians." The secretary in the office where I was working at the time was an enrolled member of the Flathead Tribe in Montana. She had no use for that argument. She showed me an article in a newspaper put out by some organization of Native American tribes. The author was a Sioux -- don't recall if Rosebud or Ogallalah, and it doesn't matter. His take on the subject? "Only non-Native Americans worry about stuff like that, because we Indians don't mind being called "Indians," and we know that we weren't native to here anyway, so we're not native Americans." (paraphrased)
