Title: Wisconsin Company Disses Our Soldiers
Post by: Thor on January 21, 2007, 04:21:55 PM
This Wisconsin company needs to hear from all of us who support our Troops whether they believe in the War or not. No company who enjoys the benefits our Nation should respond in this rude manner.

I Snopesed this personally, the links provided are valid and seem to reflect at least half of the story, Sgt. Hess' side. The company has refused to respond to any emails. Regardless of whether or not one supports the Global War on Terror, any person here in the US should at LEAST be willing to support our troops serving abroad.

To Whom it may concern:

Do you ship to APO addresses? I'm in the 1st Cavalry Division stationed in Iraq and we are trying to order some mats but we are looking for who ships to APO first.

SGT Hess,

We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.

This is America, it's their right.

It's not complicated...

They do indeed have the right to their opinions and the right to say anything they wish about the military.

That doesn't mean we don't have the right to be incensed and offer response.

The "appropriate" response is to just not order from them, right?

Or is harrassing them with a deluge of ad hoc paper okay?

It's not as if they are dropping propoganda letters all over Iraq...

Whoever does so is open to do whatever they damn well please, within the law.

It's more than OK.  It's good citizenship.  Or were the Blacks sitting at lunch counters just harassing the management?

That's just inflammatory and not even CLOSE to the same situation.

Inflamatory?  Because of your suggestion that voicing your displeasure with someone is harassment?  Then I agree.

Not even close?  No, it's not.  The owners/management of the lunch counters had every right to limit their clientele as they saw fit.   The demonstrators, though I agree with their goal of racial integration, were trespassing where they had no right to be and were in fact violating the rights of the bigoted store owners.

People writing nasty letters to this mat company at least aren't violating anyone's rights.

Excellent point.  I hadn't thought of things in quite that manner.

It's their right to be a bunch of asshats, and It's my right to try to convince poeple to quit giving them their patronage.

It's likely one jerky employee who wrote this, not any kind of company policy. (althought many companies do not ship to APO/FPO addresses)

Most people don't.  The law currently frowns on discrimination in hiring, for example.
