I've got a job interview at the end of this week in Yakima. What can y'all tell about the place?

It gets quite warm there in the summer, it is about 150 miles away from Seattle, housing is relatively cheap, it is in the dry part of the state, it is one of the largest hop-growing regions in the country and they also grow tree fruit and wine grapes, and they have some excellent Mexican restaurants. The downside is that they have a growing crime problem and it is considered one of the main stops on the import route for heroin and crystal meth manufactured in Mexico. It is a small city and most of the business is geared towards agriculture.

MC captured things well.
There is a whole Yakima/Pasco drug cartel.
I didn't care for their -- unfortunately, true -- characterization of local Native Americans (and others) as drunks, druggies and drop-outs.

I hope the original poster will report back on his experiences and impressions of Yakima.

I iknew a guy from Yakima when I was in the Navy. All he ever did was rave about the apples. Try an apple while you're there.
