He hung himself in a hotel room in France. I liked his books and shows.

Seemed like the kind of person we'd want around here,,, sarcastic, honest, genuine. Kind of shows that you never know the pain a person is suffering, unless they tell you.
-
France can have that effect on people.

Condolences to his family and friends. I liked his shows.

Every time one of these rich and famous types off themselves I read comments about how "having money and fame and a following doesn't take the pain away" or some wording close to that.
So I wonder if it makes the depression worse in a person who has managed to become rich and famous and then discovers that it hasn't fixed or even moderated their emotional issues.
"I did ALL this and nothing got better?! And it's not going to get better? What the Hell is the point then?"
And then the next day we read about another celebrity suicide.

He's the reason I sought out Oklahoma Joe's in KC. It was the only place on his list of "15 Places to eat before you die", that I had a realistic chance to eat at.

So much anger there. What is it with leftists and the hate boner for Trump?
/ thread drift.

I watched a couple of his different shows, didn't like him or the shows.
Had he been kidnapped by a roving band of fast food fanatics and whacked I suppose I would say... that's too bad. But with him removing himself from the living he gets nothing but disdain from me. The ones to feel sorry for are the ones he left behind because they will be wondering if the could have done something to stop him for a long time. All he feels is.......nothing.

What did he know about Hillary?

I really liked Bourdain in spite of his politics. I learned things from his shows and he was very insightful. More on societies he was in than just the food. Him and Zimmern are pretty intellectually honest about food and despite being left of Mao could be seen on their shows hunting food they prepared.
That said, the suicide thing I don't get. I've been half like that most of my life and if you have any ability to get inside another person's head that is close to you it has to be obvious the pain you would cause. He has an eleven year old daughter who will never be okay. I think him and his woman were madly in love and I also think they had some explosive falling out that we will never hear about. People doing great in their relationship don't off themselves. And everytime I see hot Italian girlfriend, myself included, suicide and/or homicide seem to be somewhere in the shoe of cards.
