Title: Let's show off our photography!
Post by: Winston Smith on January 27, 2007, 09:10:40 PM
Just bought a Nikkormat CM-4 at a pawn shop, risky proposition I know but I'm loving it.

Here's a couple of snaps I took on these gray San Francisco days:

UN Plaza, just a few minutes walk from City Hall. Populated with hobos and drug users/dealers who were so kind to vacate the frame.

The weather influences my mood so much; that's how I feel.

Now let's see yours!

Just a hair under 300 feet AGL.  We're looking UP at the Columbia River Gorge.  I'm pointing down at a windsurfer on the river who doesn't realize he's about to get an eight turbofan greeting courtesy of the 92nd Bomb Wing. Wink

The previous photo wasn't terribly pretty, but it still was a lot of fun to stage.

Shortly after the hurricanes of 2004 pummeled Central Florida, life began to slowly resume some semblance of normalcy.  I found myself driving around with camera in hand taking pictures for posterity. The last radial arms of Hurricane Jeanne departed the Spacecoast Florida neighborhood, leaving a spectacular Indian River sunset:

Twycross that first photo feels like it's just over yonder hill, if you know what I mean. Thanks!

And Gewehr98, what great moments to be captured!

A lot of nice photos.

Dannyboy, where was that beach picture taken?

That was taken from the Chateau above Nice, France.  I love that Seattle pano.  Was that stitched or done with something other than 35mm?

I loved it there and I plan on going back real soon (as finances permit).  Preferrably for the race again but that's not a deal breaker.
I wouldn't mind owning a house on the water somewhere between Nice and Monaco.  Sat on the train thinking about how cool it would be to wake up to that view every day.  I can walk to the beach in just a couple of minutes but I am totally jealous of the people in the south of France.

The Seattle pano was a stitch using the freeware autostitch (Google it if you want a copy, it's extremely easy to use). The picture I posted was heavily cropped. The original is 9 photos at approximately 16 1/2' x 2' if you were to hang it on the wall. The border was a quick and dirty little thing. It stands for a lot of improvement.

Gary,

Thanks for the compliment.

spinr,

Those helo shots are impressive. Very sharp and the exhaust blur is cool.

Here's some more to keep this thread going.

How do you post a photo?

You have to upload your photo to a hosting site, such as photobucket.com or content-type.com, and that will give you a url for the photo. You can then copy/paste to photo url into [img] tags here to display the image.  smiley

Frankfurt Germany

Women's restroom, Izmailovsky Park, Moscow

Moscow Sunrise, as seen from my hotel room in the Cosmos Hotel, located on Mira Prospekt. Note the smog.

Being rude, crass americans in front of the Kremlin. I'm on bottom.

Pretty much how I remember Moscow.

Petropavlovskaya, Saint Petersburg. I am currently in posession of that stone.

On the frozen Neva, Saint Petersburg.

Doesn't really dispell the gloom, eh? Banks of the Neva.

The view from my room in the Hotel Okhtinskaya, Saint Petersburg, on April 14, 2006, the two year anniversary of my getting sober. Which is definitely another story. Suffice to say... view got a little blurry.

Don't look for my face, I have  been wearing a read Ferrari cap like everyone else.

Just something. I've been blessed with a steady hand; I can get long exposure shots like that and the one below (which is a scan and didn't scan quite right) without much jitter at all.

That, IIRC, was a 1/4 second exposure, natural light, Udvar-Hedy (sp?) aero museum with my ancient Nikkormat FTN. The print looks worlds better than this overcompressed 22k POS and some day I'll spring to have the negatives professionally scanned, or spring for a neg scanner.

Here's the uncropped version, taken with the Leica and the wide angle (35mm)lense. Kodak 200 film. The Bluejay was with the long lense (135mm) but digitally enlarged and cropped. That's why it appears a bit grainy.

Hello All! New to the forum and figured that posting a few pics would be a good way to break the ice.
These were taken from a recent trip to Vegas. Camera was a Kodak EasyShare CX7430.

This road runner took the time to pose for me while begging for treats at a roadside overlooking Lake Mead on the way to Boulder Dam.

At the same roadside park were these tiny chipmunks also working the tourists for handouts. I tossed a piece of apple among them and they separated into two groups and the alpha males of each band squared off into the miniature boxing match for the rights to the apple. Westside Story Chipmunk style!  laugh

An evening view from my room at the Alladin overlooking the Bellagio and it's grand fountain show.

The 3.5 billion dollar Wynn Hotel and Resort right before it opened.

Wow and check that phone number.  sad

$325 /24 hours plus .50 cents a mile over 100 miles-$225 every 5 hours if you just want to show off for a little while.  grin

Vegas is just a huge playground for adults. It smells like money but you don't have to spend a lot to have a great time. Won a $1000 on the quarter slots at Bally's that covered the airfare and hotel.  grin

Ah, very beautiful.  You should have gone down to Chickies Rock about half hour down the river.  Nothing like looking over the Susquehanna, and occassionally watching the A10's flying eye level past the cliffs doing 150 feet over the river.

So there I was, flying at 12,000 feet, with nothing between me and the earth but a...   whoops, wrong story. Well, I'm working through a chilled bottle of Momokawa sake.  Junmai ginjo nigori, quite good actually.  Yes, I know I'm a heathen gaikokujin for drinking chilled sake, but I prefer it.

Anywho, here's a hint.  An old AM transmitter that needed to be scrapped, an on-coming storm and a very bored RevDisk don't mix well.   grin
