Title: Duck Duck Go
Post by: Ron on October 03, 2018, 07:47:26 AM
^ I thought I was downloading their search app on one of my mobile devices but it turns out they have a browser.

For just under a week I’ve been using it on this IPad mini and I like it so far.

Very clean and loads everything quick.

Can you post a screen shot? Does it look like classic Firefox, or is it another Chrome wannabe?

I didn't know they had a browser.  I wouldn't mind a Firefox alternative.

Yeah, Firefox has been bugging me lately, both related to working with third party security extensions, and their stupid little messages about, "Contribute to Firefox to fight fake news, yada yada" while at the same time, giving me news recommendations that are 90% Vice, huffpo, The Atlantic, etc.

I can’t seem to figure out how to screenshot on this IPad mini.

It’s a real stripped down browser, doesn’t remind me of either FF or Chrome.

Worth it just to hit the little flame icon repeatedly.

Just press the Power Button and the Home Button at the same time and that should produce a screen shot.

I've been using Brave for Android.

Being the ripe, old age of 42, when I heard about this DDG browser, I assumed I could use it on my Grandpa-box. But apparently it is mobile-only.  =(

Just use the webpage?  ???  Use DDG in Brave,  for redundancy?

I use the DDG Webpage and set it as the FireFox default search engine.

What could possibly be more stripped down than Chrome? When I tried Chrome all I saw was two, or maybe three, icons. No menu of any kind. Totally useless. It stayed on my computer for les than ten minutes.

The new Firefox is almost as bad. I'm staying with version 52.x.x ESR.

Huh? I already use the DDG webpage for searching. I'm talking about using the browser.
