Title: DeBlasio on His "Socialistic Impulse"
Post by: Ben on November 19, 2018, 02:03:33 PM
I guess the Bronx chick getting elected is causing more of them to just pop their "feelings" out center stage vs behind the scenes. Might be a good thing in the long run.

“I think people all over this city, of every background, would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be,” de Blasio said in a wide-ranging interview with New York Magazine. “I think there’s a socialistic impulse, which I hear every day, in every kind of community that they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs.”

A Government that can give you everything can also take it away if they don't like what you think.  Or how you cut your hair.

they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs.

This isn't a "socialistic impulse" (whatever the heck that might be) this is a puerile impulse expressed by spoiled adolescents.

That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level,” he said. “They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality.”

A government can't give you everything
Unless it has already taken everything from you.
