Title: Dick's may drop hunting gear
Post by: Scout26 on November 28, 2018, 11:07:06 PM
Despite lackluster sales, Dick's is considering dropping hunting gear after dropping EBR's.  And they wonder why their sales are down.

Anyway, if they do decide to get out of selling hunting gear, it'll be a chance to maybe get some stuff on the cheap.

Good. They should also put Republican entrances and Republican water fountains in all their stores.

I could be wrong, but I think the more polarized this country becomes, the better. Anti-American corporations, politicians, educators, media figures, should keep telling us in more and more clear terms just how little they have in common with us.

Also, they should burn more American flags, so everyone knows they're not a part of our country.

It's time to let go of Dick's.

Well, I won't step in a Dicks so they can keep stepping on it. Probably no closeouts and cheap gear, same company as Field and Stream so just shuffle the cups around and voila! Short memory rednecks go to F&S, urban yutes go to Dick's. Pander to both crowds at once.

Strategic decisions we made regarding firearms earlier this year....

I've not set foot in Dick's in years. They've always been a horrible excuse for a "sporting goods store."

They purchased Galyan's years ago and destroyed what was a really good sporting goods store chain by Dicking with it.

Yes, that was a pun.

Dick's may drop hunting gear

Dick's can drop dead.

Like fistful said, I'm glad they identified themselves as leftists.  Now I can mock them while I avoid them even more than I already do.

I went in the Dick's here on a week night before hunting season and it was a ghost town. Even more so in the hunting section.

Dicks can screw themselves.

Dicks can screw themselves.

I'm pretty sure that's not actually true . . . . .

Their stock is up for the year, so maybe they think this is the right direction for them. Of course their five year stock chart tells a different story. :)

Nevertheless, it seems like they're on their way to becoming a Big 5, but without a gun and hunting section.

Our country is becoming more economically stratified.

Many retailers have identified the core consumer, demographic, that they are trying to attract and going deep on products/categories that will appeal to them.

People like us aren’t their core consumer so why invest in trying to appeal to us?

Much of brick and mortar seems to be becoming more focused, more “boutique”. They are chasing the folks with the money and who spend the money.

"Many retailers have identifying the core consumer, demographic, that they are trying to attract and going deep on products/categories that will appeal to them."

So... they'll be changing the name to Dick's Yoga Pants?

I'm surprised that they don't have feminist SJWers petitioning them to change the company name because anything that infers a penis is too rapey...

I really miss Gaylan's Trading Post.  Why couldn't their management have taken over instead ??

Sports writer.  Had a book on NYT best seller list for a while.  I wonder if displays of fishing equipment would have jarred him.

Good. Sportsman's Warehouse can take over the empty buildings.

He also did the interview with Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker that caused such an incredible blow up back in 2000.

As for the responses to his tweet...

"Well then leftists like yourself are in no position to accuse gun owners of having tiny dicks when just the mere sight of guns in a store is enough to scare you out of the building."

Yikes!

Thread necro:

I just now heard a Dick's ad on the radio. It was their female - I thought she said president, but maybe CEO - talking about how Dick's is now more family oriented with more baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf gear than ever before. "Be sure to stop by to see our "family sports" inventory!"

Meanwhile, on the way back from this years Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day, the bus decided they wanted to stop at Bass Pro Shop in Peoria.

Interesting place.  Kind of a well decorated Walmart that specializes in Gunz 'n hunting and fishing and all that.
