Title: Tesla burns, and burns again, and then once again.
Post by: Scout26 on December 20, 2018, 12:40:59 PM
Yep, once lithium catches fire, it's almost impossible to put out.  Water, CO2 extinguishers and even foam doesn't seem to work.  Since the batteries are Li-MnO2 so the oxygen is already there and not supplied by air.

New technology.  Always dicey.

Let's face it, boiler explosions at the beginning of the steam age killed people until we finally invented popoff valves and learned how to build boilers that didn't explode, but just developed bigger and bigger leaks until the pressure was gone.

I'm not signing this one so nobody will know who posted it.
