When I was in LE back in the 60's they sent me to back up the female Juvenile Bureau detective who was to arrest a woman for child abuse.  I met up with her in a parking lot behind the apartment.  She showed me pictures of this little preschool boy.  He had cigarette burns all over his torso, arms and legs and on his buttocks was the circular burn from being placed on an electric stove element.

Unfortunately the lady detective did a marvelous job of keeping me from killing that woman.

I have had to deal with about three cases of Munchausen's by proxy in my career to date.  Two of them resulted in arrests, trials and convictions. The third was not pursued by the County prosecutor.

I want to ask questions, but I am not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole.  They claim there were original medical conditions that started this, but it sounds like it all originated with her.

Sounds about right for turning your son into your "daughter"....

OH, SORRY, that's the Munchausen's by proxy that we encourage in this country. My mistake. This is one we are supposed to be outraged about. Oops, I need to get more "woke".

First 8 years of my career as a lawyer/prosecutor, I spent in the child protection unit. I "specialized" in physical abuse.  I was terrible at sexual abuse, just not good at talking to little ones about sex.  The worst cases...especially the autopsy of a 4 year old little girl...still haunt me almost 20 years later.  When I get moody, the images crawl back into my mind. I see the autopsy...smell it.  I guess you could say I am a poster child for secondary trauma.

I have some serious ideas on what should be done to abusers.  Constitution says we can't use them.
