No Starbucks?  No fast food?  I'll believe it when I see it.

Why don't they do this type of stuff on weekends when 85% of America isn't working so they can participate? Doing it on a weekday is just stupid, much like the person who started this "movement", but I digress.

I'm not giving Fox my email, but if you can comment to counter her efforts everyone should buy a gun on that day.  [ar15]

But if people purchase the same *expletive deleted*it on March 1 or 3rd...
Other than direct consumables, such as buying a coffee or going out to eat on the 2nd...I think she overestimates the dip it would cause.
She is dumb.

But it will cause businesses to have one bad day of sales and panic and gnash their teeth and run around screaming!   =D

If everyone did it, it would be an interesting exercise in mob power, but I really doubt there would be any lasting impact.  Since almost no one will actually do it, it is nothing.

Yup. As you pointed out, her target audience is not giving up their Starbucks, etc.

I wish her as much luck as those who organized the Women's Strike Day and the Hispanics Strike Day some years ago....

Oh, and the "don't buy gasoline on X date," as well.

All three were resounding flops.

In fact, on Hispanics Strike day (which was Cinco de Mayo, IIRC) Famiglia Mtnbkr and I went for fish tacos at a very good Mexican restaurant and had no issues at all.

Why would an Italian family care about Hispanic Strike Day?

("Family" in Spanish is "familia," not "famiglia.")

We didn't give a *expletive deleted*it about it. That's why we went Mexican.

I don't have time to buy stuff on Mondays, so I'm unlikely to do so just to spite some idiot.

Did everyone support your local economy?

I surely did!

Maybe this is why people were lining up to buy a ten year supply of TP at Costco.

The Burger King next door to Lowe's was closed yesterday (the 2nd). I wonder if this is why. Unfortunately, that meant I had to deal with McDonald's.

And that's a story unto itself. A single hamburger was $1.00. A double cheeseburger was $2.00 ... but a double hamburger was $2.19. And a McDouble (one slice of cheese instead of two slices like on a double cheeseburger) was $2.29. Their pricing structure is schizophrenic.

"Their pricing structure is schizophrenic."

You mean... like it was set by some clown?

Pretty much. Or a dude with a blindfold, throwing darts at a price board.

I wonder if a 10 year supply of TP in the attic would improve the overall insulation?

I liked your suggestion and went ahead and did it.
