Title: EARTH HOUR!
Post by: Ben on March 29, 2020, 09:35:13 AM
It's Earth Hour day again today! I'm kinda cracking up because the enviros are taking it in the shorts because of the virus stuff. Stores are banning reusable bags, people are doing, "use once and toss it" stuff, etc. Pretty much anything you need to do to keep from getting infected or self-isolate is anti-environment. I don't think I even have to start a tire fire tonight - the virus is handling things for me. I can just turn all the lights on in the house and kick back.

I'd say that the increased consumption of single-use PPE and plastic bags are probably more than offset by decreased vehicular emissions and consumption in general.

Might have to join you.  I'll burn a couple of tires and see if I can't find a few honest to bejus old growth trees in my woodlot in need of becoming lumber and firewood.

Oh, Earth Hour...last Saturday in March.

I thought Earth Day was in April, so I was confused.  So what's next, earth minute?

Anyhow (shameless virtue signaling), I almost got below 100kWh last month.

Happened to be a short billing period, the weather cooperated, central apartment heating plant, and I believe my near-complete conversion to LED contributed to this paricularly low billing.

But I still have braggin' rights anyway, right?

I even found 7-1/2 Watt equivalent LED bulbs for my 15-year-old incandescent wall plug-in night light.  It's actually a bit too bright, but OK, it's still a toe-saver for nighttime prowling around the house.
