Title: Best band not in the R&R HOF
Post by: Silver Bullet on April 18, 2020, 10:57:24 PM
I’m sure this topic has been brought up before, but I’m still disgusted so I’m bringing it up again.  Some very fine rock groups are not in the Hall of Fame, and from what I read it’s all about politics and not merit.

And so I still nominate Grand Funk as the best band not in the so-called HOF.

I make my case from these ten songs:

Time Machine
Into the Sun
Heartbreaker
Inside Looking Out
Mean Mistreater
I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)
Footstompin’ Music
People, Let’s Stop the War
Upsetter
Bad Time

And for their domination of rock music (admittedly, for a very short length of time) about 1969-1970.

Some of my other favorites who I happen to think are way better than a lot of the bands already in the HOF include:

The Guess Who
Jethro Tull
Steppenwolf
Foreigner

A lot of the members aren’t even rock.  Which justifies my wondering why one more artist isn’t in the HOF.  Extraordinary guitarist, singer, and entertainer:

Glen Campbell

I always wonder why Pat Benatar has never been inducted.

Among others.

What's worse is they are inducting Hip Hop and Rap "bands" while not inducting legitimate deserving Rock bands/artists. Rap/Hip Hop is most definitely not my style of music, I suppose some of those artists deserve recognition for their work, but to me they should have their own HoF, not be in the Rock one since they are not Rock and are taking spaces that Rock acts deserve.

Never thought about it enough to see who is in and who isn’t, but if jethro Tull is not already in then the HOF has no legitimacy.

GFR probably didn't make many friends in the R&R music community by recording this politically incorrect song:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QqVpZdzBZM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QqVpZdzBZM)

And of course, even in its title, We're an American Band didn't bow much before the altar of globalism and diversity.   ;)

Agreed.  She was up this year,  dud very well in the fan vote, and got set aside.  Shows what the HOF really is, and isn't.
