Title: A DIY $7.52 "facial covering"
Post by: Cliffh on May 11, 2020, 10:16:20 PM
DW had a doctors appointment today.  Gotta wear a face cover to get into the hospital, and they don't supply any.  We're about 20 minutes down the road when I remember that I didn't grab a mask on the way out.  Damn.  Not enough time to turn around and no store around here has any - we've looked.

OK, what have we got to work with?  A roll of Viva paper towels.  OK, good start.  Check inside the cab & in the trunk, nothing to make straps out of.  There's a Dollar General coming up.  "Hey, they've got duct tape"!  Grabbed the duct tape and on the way out saw some cheap plastic necklace chokers.  What the hell, they're stretchy.  A few minutes of folding and taping and voila! we have a face cover!

The chokers are going in the trash, but the duct tape is staying in the trunk - where it should have been all along.

If she don't find you handsome she should at least find you handy.

Along with the rope, the axe, the plastic sheeting and the bag of lime?

The duct tape would have worked by itself at least for a few minutes.

I think the bandanas I have were $2 or $3.  Bought at a gas station.  Made in China.   =D

You forgot the shovel.  It's in there, along with a hatchet, (takes more time than an axe but works).  As for the rope & plastic sheet, I'm hoping a tow strap & tarp will work.

Still trying to figure out how to store the lime without damaging the trunk.

If she don't find you handsome she should at least find you handy.

Why else would she have stayed around so long?

Went to the drug store - wearing a mask - to pick up some meds for my mother.

As I approached the pharmacy counter, the pharma tech looked up and said "Hello HankB, picking up some meds for your Mom?"

Mask didn't help conceal my identity - I guess I'd make a lousy bandito.
